The girl ran as fast as she could down the hill, away from the monster behind her. She grabbed onto a tree and stood behind it to catch her breath, the monster stood looking around, waiting for her to come out. She peeked out to see if it was still there. It was. She kept running.
When she was far enough in front of it, she stopped, turned around and yelled "Requip!". For, Scarlet this spell had never worked, her master only taught her the basics. She had gone on a quest for her guild and never came back. That meant she wasn't able to master the skill.
Scarlet's clothes started to glow, delight spread across her face as she saw that it was working, but it was short lived, the glow stopped and the monster caught up.
She started to run again, but tripped and fell. The monster was getting closer all the time. Scarlet know she wouldn't have time to get up, so she just lied there and closed her eyes. She felt the heat of the monster's breath on her face, she let out a scream. A scream she thought would be her last.
She felt the heat leave her face, so she opened her eyes. She saw a pink-haired boy fighting the beast, he was using fire. From what she had learned, Scarlet knew he was a fire dragon-slayer. And from the mark on his arm, she knew he was a member of....
