Lynn was sitting in the waiting room of the office. The florescent lights made the office look gray and sterile. The school was quiet, the only sound came from the old lady behind the counter lightly tapping on the computer keyboard as well as the clock ticking. slowly. steadily. rhythmically. She was here to give a new student a tour of the school.

The principal's door opened and Lynn stood up straightening her cardigan. Out walked the gray-haired man, Mr. Addy, and a raven haired girl. She was about Lynn's height, her lips tainted red. She had a round face, shoulder length raven hair, her skin was the shade of the caramel candy that her grandmother always had laying around and her eyes were green as emeralds. The new girl was wearing a black dress that made her body look stunning. Lynn could see that the girl had curves, but the dress hugged them perfectly. A ball of jealousy formed in Lynn's stomach the more she looked at the new schoolmate. She seemed perfect.

"Miss Adams.." Mr Addy said "This is Angelique Montesaire."
The raven haired girl smiled a warm smile at Lynn
"Hi there" Angelique said. Even her voice sounded perfect.
"And this miss Montesaire is Lyndsey Adams" Mr Addy continued

Lynn smiled a tight smile.

"Nice to meet you,Angelique"

"Oh call me Angie...I insist" the new girl said

"Of course" said Lynn

"Okay ladies I'll leave you two be." Addy smiled "you are in good hands miss Montesaire"

The gray haired man disappeared into his office leaving the two alone in the waiting room in front of his office.

"So where do we begin?" Angie asked looking around the old fashioned office room.

"Have you received your lesson plan?"

"Yes." Angie smiled opening her handbag and pulling out a paper. "Right here"

Lynn took it from her and read what was on the paper . This girl was a junior, just like Lynn. From the schedule in her hand she could see that the raven haired girl was taking english literature, psychology and history as AP classes which means she was not only attractive but smart as well. The dress also showed that she was quite well off as far as finances go. The more Lynn learned about this new girl the more she felt jealousy rise in her chest.

As Lynn was examining the classes Angie had a chance to look at the girl top to bottom. Lynn was a thin, rather fragile looking girl, her brown hair was tucked into a tight high ponytail but if Angie had to guess the length she would say it went just past her breasts. And she would not be too wrong. Her skin was light like milk and her eyes were light blue. Her cheeks and nose had faint freckles. Angie thought the girl looked sweet, none the less smart, judging by her wardrobe. The brown haired girl was wearing a eggshell colored skirt that reached halfway to her knees along with a white blouse that was covered by a light sky blue cardigan. Angie smiled, she seemed nice, maybe they could actually be friends. She needed a friend. A lot.

"Okay it seems we have chemistry together as the first lesson." Lynn snapped Angie out of her thoughts.
"Really?" Angie exclaimed "That's so cool"

Taken aback by the sudden excitement Lynn sucked in a breath and then shrugged "I guess"

They walked out of the office into the hallway. Angie looked around.
"Is the whole school this way?" she asked, a hint of disgust in her voice

"Uhm.." Lynn looked at her confused "what do you mean?"

"Like it was last renovated when J D Salinger was still working on Catcher In The Rye" Angie huffed

"I guess it could use some fresh paint but it's not that bad" Lynn said thoughtfully

Lynn frowned as she watched Angie roll her eyes. The raven haired girl did not seem so be such a nice person to be around. For the first time in her life Lynn could not wait for the tour to end so she could avoid Angelique for the rest of the school year.

"Oh.." a sickly sweet smile appeared on Angie's "and who's that?"

Lynn turned her head in the direction of where the girl was pointing.

And there he was, standing in the middle of the hallway, a guitar case over his shoulder. His hair falling perfectly, framing his angular, perfect face, his eyes shining as always. Lynn could never stop admiring how the eyes of the boy were so special. He had a condition that caused his eyes to be different colors, one was a pale shade of gray, green and blue. The color reminded her of the mist covered forest and the other was brown . She loved the way they made him more handsome. The boy was tall with flaming red hair, his skin was tanned, his shoulders wide, his arms toned.

"Oh...That's Dylan" Lynn shrugged making her voice sound like he was not a big deal.

In reality she was hoping that her voice wouldn't crack like it did so often or her cheeks wouldn't begin burning. You see Lynn and Dylan had been neighbors all their lives. She considered him her oldest and best friend. They used to be inseparable like siblings. But then she had fallen in love with Dylan sophomore year, back when he still had acne and no muscles, she had loved him before his growth spurt, before puberty. She had never had the guts to tell him though.

But to her surprise the acne covered, short, redhead had turned into a definite hunk.
"Dylan huh?" Angie smiled a sly half smile "He's cute"

Now the viper was noticing the one boy who meant everything to Lynn, how could it get worse, Lynn thought.

To Lynn's misfortune Dylan turned around and noticed the two of them. At first his sparkling eyes landed on Lynn causing him to smile a playful smile. For a second, to Lynn at least, it seemed that it was just the two of them in the world.
But only for a moment because then the redheaded boy's attention was moved to the raven haired girl next to her. The friendly, playful look on his face was replaced by a blank, infatuated look. Lynn glanced at the girl next to her, the girl that had Dylan's attention,Angie was smiling like she had just won a golden medal. Her emerald eyes were flirtatious and her red lips formed an inviting smile.
Dylan began walking towards the two girls, he felt like an invisible rope was tied around his waist dragging him towards the dark haired beauty. He felt like a something was tied in his throat and the only way to get it out was to talk to the girl. The one with the sweet strawberry colored lips. She was beautiful, every inch of her. She had this strange aura, like she was radiating confidence. Sexiness.Intelligence. Who was she?

As the boy reached the two girls he caught the smell of Angie's sweet perfume, a smell that would haunt him for countless nights.

"Hi" he looked at her smiling an attractive smile "I'm Dylan"

"Angie" the dark haired girl winked

If a few moments ago Lynn had felt like there was no one else in the world, except her and Dylan, then now it felt like she had completely disappeared from the boy's life leaving an empty space next to the new girl.

"That's a pretty name" Dylan ran his fingers through his hair "for a beautiful girl I see"

"Is that a complement, Dyl?" Angie teasingly said

Dylan let out a playful chuckle.

A small sigh escaped Lynn's lips causing both Angie and Dylan to look at her.

"We should get to class" Lynn forced a smile "don't wanna be late on the first day"

Angie chuckled and let her finger fix the collar of Dylan's jacket "I'll catch you around Dyly"

With this event a soft pink tainted the boy's cheeks. As he felt the cheeks heat up Dylan hurried off.

A knot appeared in Lynn's chest, he had not even said goodbye, not even looked at her once. It felt like there was a pit in her chest where her heart used to be.

"This way" she began walking trying not to show that she was hurting. Was this going to be how everything was supposed to be now. Her almost not existing in Dylan's life or was it just this one time.

As they walked into the classroom Lynn was quick to sit in her seat, her whole body was tense, something clearly wrong. Well clear for any observant person.

"What's wrong,L?" I asked tapping her elbow
