It was cloudy.
I wandered towards the opened window and inhaled, the enticing scent of oncoming rain filling my nostrils. My fingers curled around a smoldering cup of coffee, the steam floating from the surface and fogging my glasses. I shook my head and used my sleeve to clear my vision. My thickly framed glasses were soon replaced on my face, only to be slowly fogged up again by my drink.
I love cloudy days, especially when the clouds cry tears of rain, bringing flowers and rainbows in their wake. I wrapped my oversized, comfortable, knitted sweater around my thin frame as a chill escaped from outside through the open window.
I reached a hand tentatively outside, and felt a few small droplets of rain fall into my waiting palm. Suddenly, as if someone had turned on a tap, the downpour began. I quickly shut the window in an attempt to keep the water from invading into my home.
Collapsing into a cushiony chair opposite the window, I reached for a book on the table next to me. I pulled apart the thick pages, yellow with age but otherwise in perfect condition, having been cared for religiously by yours truly. I loved rainy days. They were quiet.
Tranquil.It was cloudy.
