I see the dream and I see the nightmare, and I believe you can't have the dream without the nightmare

I press my back flat against the wall, careful the stay hidden.  My heart beating erratically in my chest. I hear foot steps echoing down the otherwise silent hallway.  I silently pray they will go away.

After what feel a like an eternity the footsteps slowly start to fade. I let out a shaky breath I didn't realize I was holding.

When I can no longer here the footsteps I peel myself form the wall and continue down the familiar hallway. My goal firm in my mind.

I round the corner and freeze. There staring at me is someone I thought I never have to see again, Kyle. Without a seconds hesitation he lunged at me.

I quickly side step and throw a punch to his stomach trying not to show how scared I still am of him. Surprise flashes in his eyes as I land the punch but he quickly recovers.

" hmm that's new. When did you learn how to fight lex? " Kyle asks like we are old friend catching up.  I inwardly shudder at the nickname, but don't  let us show it scares me.

" I haven't seen you in 4 years. Things change." I growl in response.

He punches me in the stomach but I barley feel it. I throw a right hook to his face. We continue to trade blows. Unfortunately, I don't realize I have been backing up until it's too late.

My back hits the wall. Kyle takes advantage and pulls out his gun, pressing it to my forehead. My eyes go wide as I process what just happened. Even with all my training this man still terrifies me. I shrink back losing all my confidence.

" Run while you still can we will find you and you are going to pay." Kyle whispers in my ear. It was always his quiet voice that scared me the most. All I can manage is a whimper in response. If it was any other person they would already be dead but my fear of this man paralyzes me. I see Kyle's finger twitch. Kyle quietly laughs in my ear, before he pulls the trigger and everything goes black.

I bolt strait in bed covered in a cold sweat.

"Great another nightmare" I mumble to myself. I hate them. My nightmares make me feel small and helpless even though in real life anyone who bothered me would get their ass kicked.

I look at the time on my rose gold iPhone 7 and sigh, 5:00 am. My alarm wasn't supposed to go off for another hour. I slowly climb out of my small bed and hop into the shower.

I quickly dress in black ripped skinny jeans and a white crop top. I throw on my leather jacket. To finish my look I apply dark red lipstick, dark grey eyes shadow, and thick black eyeliner to make my bright blue eyes pop. I tie my strait long dirty blond hair into a high ponytail. I tuck a small knife and gun into a black handbag. With my past you can never be of your guard. Satisfied with my look I leave my room.

I rummage through the kitchen for something to eat for breakfast. Having just moved into my apartment yesterday, I haven't had time to shop for food. I glance at the clock and seeing it's 6:45 I give up and just grab an apple as I head out the door.

I practically run down the stairs excited to ride my baby, Lucy. She's a MV Agusta F4CC and jet black. Literally the coolest bike ever.

I put my helmet on and swing my leg over the seat. I start the engine loving the purr she makes. My body is on high alert from the adrenaline running through me. I quickly speed to my new school.

I pull Lucy into the school parking lot and park in a spot near the front, not caring who's spot it is. I tip back I head and slowly take off my helmet shaking out my hair. I look around and see every student outside of the school staring at me. I sigh, this is going to be a long day.
