She stood there, looking at her reflection in the mirror, wondering why she feels lonely, and why the world is so strange while everyone sees life normal in its current insane state.
He stood there, behind her, looking at her reflection. "What are you thinking about dear?" He asked in a curious voice, "is it the same thoughts as before?"
She seemed anxious and scared, "yes," she replied, "it's the same haunting question I always ask myself before facing another day."
"But my love, I already told you the answer. Aren't you satisfied yet?"
"Should I?" She sighed. "yes, I am satisfied, but for a strange reason, I always want to hear the same answer from you."
"Oh, my sweet innocent lady!" he said, while he held her from behind and approached her hair, to take a shot from eternity, as he always done before answering any of the questions her mind asked,"the world is a strange place for people like you, it's cruel, dark and twisted. People fight to gain nothing, seeking nothing but destruction. They kill each other for no reason, only because they think their false gods will be happy. They hate one another, for the stupidest reasons, for the smallest differences, and they are ready to watch the world burn if that's what it takes to prove they are right. They build walls they cannot climb, and create borders they cannot cross. They make gaps they cannot fill, and wounds they cannot heal.
They steal, torture, kidnap, take, and take, and take, but never give.
Only caring about what others have and they don't, about what someone is and what they are not,
'That guy is black, that guy is gay, that guy is Christian, a Jew, a Muslim, an atheist. He likes that football team, he is a nerd, that woman wears hijab, that woman likes shorts, that man believes in something which I don't, that guy can do something which I can't. He is rich, he is poor, he is a foreigner.' And because of all these differences between them, they make wars, they kill, hate, protest, and fight to impose their own rules and laws and points of view. But we all forget that each one of us has his own unique way of thinking, and that if we want to fight anyone who has a different opinion, no man will stand alive.
Oh, my beautiful love! It breaks my heart that you are alone in this mad, mad world, and that it is trying to take away your innocence. The world is strange, and no one cares about what you are. That's why it seems a normal place to live in from their own eyes; they never try to see it from someone else's mind. Because they never want to understand you, or ever ask why we live in such a useless way."
She went to the door and opened it, as if his answer gave her the power she needed. The sunlight slithered in and filled the room. She cleaned her eyes from tears and dissolved makeup, and looked back at a picture hanging on the wall opposite of the mirror, and said, "I missed you more than you can know. And I need you more than before." as he vanished into the dark air of the room's corner, while she went outside to fight another day, all by herself, all on her own.

A Mere Reflection
Short StoryI'd like to consider each part a story in itself. While I always connected the characters with each other, something felt different in each part. It's a story about many aspects of our thoughts, some of which never have touch with reality, and some...
