Beaten Up || Zoro x Sanji

Part 2

That day was probably the first one that Zoro didn't come to eat dinner with them and it weirded the whole strawhat crew out.
Of course one particular blonde was worrying way more than anyone else, so as soon as everyone was provided with food, he quietly left to search for his boyfriend.

For some odd reason, everyone had been too lazy and hungry to even consider searching for him.
Maybe because everyone trusted Zoro and if he had decided not to come, it must have been for a reason.

So the crew had just accepted it as his decision and more or less none of their business.

Sanji didn't need to search for long.
He found Zoro huddled on his bed, clutching a shirt, which he identified as his own after a few seconds, and supposedly sleeping.

The swordsman didn't react to him coming in, so he approached the bed quietly and crouched down next to him, staring at his bruised knuckles, then at the drying lines of tears on his cheeks.
Feeling his pain and seeing what it caused made him feel like screaming, but all his from shock blocked throat managed to do, was whisper.

"Why would you ever...?"

He gently stroked his green hair and pressed a soft kiss on his cheek, flinching when Zoro stirred.
When he had blinked enough to clear his sight, Sanji had already disappeared.

"We need to talk!"

Nami grabbed the swordsman by his arm and dragged him away from the others.

"About Sanji. We fucked up, both I and him. Please don't be too angry, but... we kissed."

She watched different emotions fight for dominance on Zoro's face.
Sadness, anger, disappointment and more, and before he could decide which one was the one to take over, she spoke up again.

"And no, we didn't like it all and of course we don't love each other at all, just so you know. I know he's your boyfriend. Everyone knows. I know, it's a horrible thing to do and confessing it as carelessly as me doesn't make it better, but I thought you should know. Sanji wants you to know, too, and since you two are not talking to each other..."

After a short pause, which Zoro used to swallow his anger, he cleared his throat and tried to ask the next question as objective as possible.

"Why did you kiss then?"

She shrugged sort of helplessly, desperately searching for an answer that wouldn't sound like a lie.

"He was upset, I was upset and I consoled him as he was crying and I think all he needed was comfort... Which I gave him. And I just wanted someone to comfort me, too."

Once again, tears were threatening to roll down the swordsman's cheeks.

He had made Sanji cry.
His own boyfriend, his one true love.

He had hurt him and had left him all alone when he had needed someone to hold him.
Was he really such a horrible person?!

Probably.

Thinking about it, the whole fight had been because of what?
Because he had overreacted.

"T-thank you, Nami."

He was still absolutely baffled and trying to figure out what exactly had happened.
How could she be so calm talking about something so unsettling?

"Don't you worry about that, but you should really talk to Sanji. He didn't mean to hurt you. I know we shouldn't have kissed, but please don't hate him for it. He didn't mean to, it just happened."

He nodded and she gave him a weak smile before she left him right where he was and went back to their friends.

And as much as the swordsman wanted to make things okay between his boyfriend and himself, he just couldn't build up the courage to actually talk to him.

So he spent the rest of the day and half the night quietly creeping around the ship, not talking to any crewmember at all and only feeding on sake.
Eventually his feet led him to Sanji's bed.

When Sanji woke up the next morning, he felt warm and comfortable and not at all that bad.

It took him a few minutes to wake up entirely and it was not until then that he noticed that Zoro was cuddled up to him below the covers, smiling softly, but somewhat sadly.
Sanji slowly loosened his boyfriend's grip around his waist, wiggling his way out of his hug.
Evetually, he got up, careful not to wake him, and gently pressed a kiss on his forehead.

"I'm so sorry, baby, but you deserve someone better..."

With these words, he left, sighing heavily and blinking back tears.

The sun was standing high in the sky when Zoro woke up.
It was somewhat around 1pm and it took him some time to adjust to the light.

He hadn't really expected Sanji to stay, but he was disappointed nevertheless when he realised that he was alone.

His head felt like it was about to explode, throbbing painfully.
He struggled to sit up for a while, then swung his legs off the bed, yawning and rubbing his eyes.

"Fuck my life!",

he whispered and forced himself to get up.

Avoiding the kitchen at all costs, he answered the growling of his stomach by strolling to the dining table and contending himself with leftovers, that yet had to be put away.

More or less satisfied, he immediately left the ship again, heading straight to the bar he had already spent some time at the day before yesterday.

"Why is he still not back?!"

Sanji was pacing up and down the kitchen of the Thousand Sunny, slowly, but surely freaking Nami out just as much as himself.

The moon was shining through the windows, reminding them of how late it actually was and made the whole scene seem somewhat obscure .

"Obviously because he doesn't want to and you can't change it. Calm the fuck down!",

she snapped and smacked the back of his head with her flat hand.

"He'll come back when he's ready."

The cook shook his head.

"But first, he'll do something stupid, get drunk, get into some sort of trouble, something like that. You know him."

He sighed heavily and buried his face in his hands.

It was somewhere around 4 am and Zoro had disappeared hours ago.

"What if he doesn't come back at all?! Oh my god, Nami!",

he shrieked a bit too loud and wrapped his arms around his own shoulders.

"Oh my god."

Finally, the women with the orange hair brought herself to hugging him and at least trying to console him, regardless of how ridiculous his fears were.

Zoro would always come back to him.
