Prologue
My life started out as normal. Loving parents, a responsible older sister who loved me, and an adorable younger sister. Then there was me, the middle child. With eleven years between me and my older sister and four between me and my younger sister. I was always in the middle of something. I also got whatever I wanted. A spoiled brat you could say.. We were that picture perfect family you would see on TV, the kinds of families that don't even exist.
A happy life we lived indeed. That is until the death of my parents..
My birthday I had been waiting for! That day I turned 9. My parents were always waiting to celebrate it with me. That winter, we'd had so much snow that they were calling for a blizzard.
We waited for two hours and after calling and trying to reach them, they never picked up. We ended up calling the police, worried to death about our parents and our young hearts aching and yearning for their return.
We sat their in the lonely kitchen until a knock came to the door.
"Sorry to disturb you all, especially in this weather, but are you by chance the daughters of the Lawsons? The officer asked hesitantly.
"Yes we are. Have you heard from our parents at all..?" My older sister asked.
He fidgeted for a moment and looked up with pity and sadness in his eyes as he told her the words that changed our lives forever.
"They were involved in a head-on collision, and I'm afraid that they died at the scene."
My older sister broke down in tears. My younger sister clutched my her shirt and bawled until she had no more tears in her body. I however, froze to the spot.
Dead? They can't be.. They promised they'd spend my birthday with me..
They say that it was trauma due to their deaths, but I just wouldn't accept it. After therapy, I came to realize that it was true. And after figuring out that it wasn't a lie, I cried like I never had before..
My sister wanted to go to college , but decided she'd rather raise me and my little sister by herself, with her fiance's help of course.
Despite the accident, I lived a normal life, and now I'm enrolled in the University of Ohio.
I'm not sure what's important to me or what my career will be, but I just want to fulfill my life to the best of my abilities.
A problem however. I'm a recluse. I don't bother to know people and don't let them know me either. I have one best friend and she only has two out of six of my classes with me.
When I'm not with her, I refuse to talk to anyone. It would do me so much good if she had all classes with me. I say this especially because all the players and popular people are in every class of mine.
And the person I hate most sits next to me in some of them.
I admit he has the looks, but when push comes to shove he's only looks. His cold personality gets the girls' attention. He sleeps with them and breaks them like a twig. Despicable.
Zack Atkins.. His luscious blonde hair and deep green eyes definitely show his coldness. It's too bad that looks aren't everything.
I would like to be pretty like all those girls however. I'm just a plain person though. With mid-waist caramel brown hair and blue eyes, there's not much to look at.
I'm at an average height and I wear girly clothes with natural makeup. I have a question though. Why am I always hit on..?
I'm not easy like those giggling bimbos who say yes to the guys who ask them out. Players are the worst for it, but they haven't come near me, thank goodness.

My final afternoon class came to an end as the bell interrupted the professor.
Everyone ran out the doors and to the lot with their friends and hanging around everyone's cars.
I took a quick corner which led to a small street, leading me to my house.
As I walked, I heard a faint cry. Sobbing. Wailing. Then it stopped and I heard a furious scream.
"Why would you break up with me?! You chose me out of everyone and now you're throwing me away?!"
An angry brunette attacked Zack Atkins with her purse, binder, and started throwing pencils or pens.
"What can I say? You're not special. And when did I once say I love you?" He said with an uninterested face with hands in his pockets.
He glanced over and noticed me watching their performance. I saw a hint of a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth.
He suddenly grasped my arm as he looked at the brunette and said, "She's my new play mate. So see you later."
P-play mate?! When she was still in sight, he dragged me and kept running until you could no longer see her brown head bob up and down.
We rested on a stump of an old tree, gasping for air and trying to catch our breaths.
"I haven't ran like that in years!" He began laughing hysterically. "Thanks for the opportunity back there," he said with his hand extended. I pushed it to the side as I stood up and brushed myself off.
"Sorry, where are my manners? I'm Zack. Zack Atkins," he said while once again trying to extend his hand.
"I know damn well who you are. And I couldn't think of a person any lower than I think of you," I snapped.
At first shocked and then he began laughing until he grabbed his sides to ease the pain. "A feisty one I see. You're the first girl to ever reject me," he smiled as a dimple appeared.
"I think we'll get along just fine, Miss Danielle Lawson. Hope you get used to me!" He said, ready to impact my life for a second time...
