Both Clank and Melody went back and forth telling Ratchet what might work and won't . This went on for a couple of hours considering Veldin didn't have the best of supplies when it comes to smaller, finer pieces necessary.Frankly, It's Clank speaking and Melody either nodding or shaking her head as they wondered around the market bargaining with venders. So far they've only managed to find two parts that'll work as substitutes.
While Clank examined the parts and asked specific questions, just to be on the safe side, Melody continued to observe everything around her. Taking in the bright blue sky, the dessert fields, even the market place in which they stood. She hadn't really seen much of the universe but what she had seen was in fact beautiful.
While her mind was on the new scenery laid out before her, Ratchet took the time to capture all Melody's features.
She seems to be around his age even though no one but Melody could say for sure. Her long blonde hair swaying softly in the breeze.
Ratchet felt a tap on his hand. Looking down, he sees that it was Clank.
"Ratchet, I am afraid they sold us the wrong part. I will go back and see what I can do."
"Alright, pal. I guess Melody and I will meet you at Berks' store."
"Affirmative."
Just as Melody turns her attention back to the guys, she sees Clank turn around and head back the way they came. She tapped Ratchet's shoulder and pointed towards Clank, watching the small robot dart around the corner.
Thank goodness it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand what she was asking.
"We got the wrong part so he's going to see about getting a different one."
The two Lombaxes walked in silence for a few minutes. The awkwardness is overbearing to him. He took a deep breath and cleared his throat.
"So. Uh, Melody...nice weather we're having, huh?" He chucked nervously.
She nodded in response. The tension getting to her as well. Melody stared at her feet as she walked alongside Ratchet.
Before she can realize it, Ratchet snatches Melody backwards. Basically pulling her onto himself. He was able to support both of their weight as they stood on the sidewalk.
If Ratchet hadn't acted fast enough, Melody would have been a pancake. She hadn't realized that she almost walked into oncoming traffic. In the moment, it had been almost unintentionally when he pulled her back that she happened to land on his chest. This caused the both of them to blush from the close proximity.
"You okay? Don't need you getting hit." He chuckles nervously once again.
Melody quickly pushed herself off him and straightened herself.
How embarrassing.
Ratchet decided that a changing the subject would be a good idea.
"So how did you loose you're voice?"
Her ears shifted downward and looked else where. She tried to think of a way to communicate with him. Ironically they were by some sandy dirt. Breaking off a stick from a nearby bush, she started to draw in the sand.
Ratchet came up next to her, seeing the letters drawn in the dirt. His ears raised up in curiosity and continued to watch. When she stepped to the side, she looked at him and flicked her eyes to the writing.
'Do no no'
'No member'
"Sorry. I'm not sure what that first part means."
