Aurelia

Chapter 1
"Aurelia! Where is that girl?” said Abigail, the head maid of the Sandburg kingdom. "That girl never stays put. She will not be ready in time for her father's grand royal ball."
"Abigail? Are you looking for Aurelia?” said Sienna. "She told me she needed some time alone and then walked away."
Abigail sighed. "That girl… Well Sienna, go on up and get ready for the royal ball. Caralyn is already up in your room with your gown."
"Alright.” said Sienna. She started walking up the stairs towards her room where her maid, Caralyn, was waiting.
Sienna always admired her sister. Aurelia never cared about what people thought about her (which was a big deal since she was a princess). She was very independent and didn’t like people telling her what to do, which is why Sienna was hoping she would be like her sister some day.
Good luck trying to hide from this, Sienna thought, smiling to herself.
Abigail sighed. She truly loved Aurelia, but that girl never listens to anything anyone tells her. Ever since her mother died, Aurelia has been distant and stubborn. She just wished that, this once, she would actually try to be excited about the idea of going to the ball. After all, there father was planning it for his lovely daughters.
"Aurelia, that girl will never change.” said Abigail. She started walking up the stairs to watch over the other maids and to make sure everything was in preparation for the grand royal ball.

Aurelia sat on the rooftop of her father's castle looking at the beautiful ocean while the wind blew her long, silky black hair away from her face. She loved going there when she needed time to be alone. As she watched the sun set she knew it was almost time for her father's royal ball to begin. She knew she should head back inside to her room, but she couldn't take her gaze away from the ocean.
“So beautiful.” she said; completely awestruck by the oceans beauty. She stared at the ocean, mesmerized for a little longer before she got up.
"Stupid ball.” She muttered under her breath while she stood up. "The whole idea of getting ready for the ball makes me feel exhausted. I wish I could just stay here on the rooftop for the rest of the evening." But Aurelia knew that was impossible. She was the eldest daughter of the Sandburg family. At 17, she had to be the exact image of what a royal princess should be. Yet she was far away from that image and she knew it. She loved adventure. excitement, and freedom; things she couldn't get while being the oldest princess of the royal family.
"Well, I guess it's time to get ready for the ball. And all the glories that await with it." Aurelia rolled her eyes and started walking back into the castle.

The Sandburg's grand royal ball was a beautiful sight to behold. The room was filled with people from princes to court jesters from across the country chatting and laughing with each other. They were all dressed their best for the ball. The men in suits that were fitted perfectly and the women with gowns that were extravagant to look at. The main reason they all came to the ball was to see King Christopher's daughters; Aurelia and Sienna. They heard the princesses were a wonderful sight to behold. Especially Aurelia, who was now 17; a perfect age to be wed. The princes among other men at the ball wanted to finally get a chance to meet, and hopefully be eligible to marry, the extravagant princess.
