Hey guys! Thank you for all the reads! It feels great to know people like my story. This chapter took a little longer but I think I like it. It's just an insight into her family. I'm trying to keep everything pretty accurate. Except for the fact MGK is moving to NY. Also, I made NY the last stop of warped tour so it would work with the story. Anyway, tell me what you think of this chapter and keep voting :) <3 -Amy

I finally pulled into the car garage around the corner from our apartment building at 1:00 a.m. and squeezed into my reserved parking spot. The garage was quiet and dark; straight out of a horror movie.

"God, I hate getting home this late. This garage is so creepy at night" said Vanessa, hesitant to get out of the car.

"We'll be fine." I said getting out of the car and waiting for her to follow so I could lock the doors. I looked over to the parking spot next to mine and noticed my dad's car and almost immediately started panicking. I looked over at Vanessa who could see the fear in my face.

"Want me to stay over? I'm sure my mom will understand" she said

"No. I don't want you getting hurt or something."

My dad was a drunk and a coke head. I hated when he was home. Although being home with my mother wasn't any better. She smoked crack and popped prescription pills as if they were candy. But at least there was no yelling, cursing and beating when it was just me and her. I knew it was going to be a long night.

We left the garage and the city lights lit up the sky. The cars speeding down 6th avenue quickly put a dagger through the silence. We walked down the block to west 32nd, avoiding cars, and crossed the street to our home in NYC. I lived in The Continental most of my life. My parents inherited big bucks from my great grandparents and used most of it to afford this place; and their crack addiction of course. Vanessa's family moved here from LA not too long ago, right after her mom died. Her dad is a stock broker on Wall Street now and takes money from people like taking candy from a baby.

The elevator was taking longer than usual and the annoying elevator music seemed to penetrate my ears. We started getting closer to Vanessa's floor and I felt my palms get sweaty. She would have to leave me and I would need to face my parents alone.

"Well, text me when you get settled, okay?" she turned to hug me as the door opened to the 40th floor. "Be careful. Oh, and let me know if he texts you."

I just smiled at her and nodded my head as the door closed and I kept going up to the 47th floor.

I stepped out and walked to my door, hesitating to put the key in. When I walked in, I nearly tripped over an empty liquor bottle. I sighed and could hear my dad yelling.

"Mom? I'm home!" I yelled, throwing my keys on the side table next to the door. I walked down the hallway and turned into the living room to see my dad shirtless and standing over my mother.

"What's going on?" I insisted

"Nothing. Go to your room!" My dad yelled, not even bothering to turn around. I took a glimpse passed him and saw that he had his foot to my mom's throat. She looked so scared.

"What the fuck are you doing?" I yelled and ran towards him. Tears started running down my face as I punched at his back and pushed for him to let her breathe. He took his foot off her throat and she coughed and wheezed for air.
