Carter didn't sleep at all, he had spent the whole night going through his dad's old papers, and blueprints of the Government's main tower. He knew that there was currently no cure for the BmB, but there was medicine that helped prolong a patients life, and for now that's all he needed.

He felt cool going out at night wearing all black like a secret agent. In his backpack he had the blueprints, a small pistol, and his father's old tablet. In truth he didn't know they even owned a gun until he accidentally found it his dad's things, and he had no clue if it even worked, but better safe than sorry.

He walked out of his house, trying to be as quite as possible. He could see the lights of Elijah's house were on through the blinds. It was around 11pm, and considering the city's curfew being 10:30, it was weird to see that someone else was also brave enough to stay awake.

Focusing on the mission, he continued through town, until he got to the large buildings signalling the begging of the main square. He made his way across the "secret alley" until he was facing the main tower. It was gigantic,  made almost completely of glass with over 100 floors. Luckily for him he only needed to go to floor 10. There were was a serious lack of guards outside, mainly because they knew no one was stupid enough to try and break in. That was, until Carter. Even then he couldn't just go up on the elevator. He looked at his watch 11:45, he needed to make it out of there by 12:30, which is when the guards made their full rounds of the building, or at least that's what his dad's papers said.

This is so stupid he thought, but his mom needed him more. So with with one final look up, he headed towards the building.

                                            ***
Sprinting up the stairs he had somehow managed to make it to the 9th floor. He braced himself for another set of stairs, but the sound of someone behind him, stopped him.  He turned to find a older scientists staring at him. They were both locked in a staring contest, with the man looking like he recognized him. It wouldn't surprise Carter, he father was a pretty big scientist, so he may have recognized him like that.

He took the chance, pulled out the pistol and pointed it at the man's leg and shot.

  Nothing

He tried again, getting the same result. It took him a second to realize what was wrong. He didn't put the bullets in! He didn't know he even need to put them in. His father worked him the best technology in the world, but he couldn't make a laser gun or something? At that second the man lunged at him, and Carter just did exactly what his instinct told him to do.

The pistol bounced off the man's shiny bald head as he fell to the floor. In a way, Carter felt a strange pride at the thought that he took out a man without a single bullet. True he had only knocked the man out, but still.

Grabbing the man's ID he ran up the stairs and walked through the glass doors of the lab. The room was full of different colored vials and medicines, but the one that he needed was the blue G4x7. He looked at his watch 12:05, he had 25 minutes. He ran around the room trying his best to read every bottle. Finally he found a glass cabinet full of blue G4x7s. There was no key anyway to open it,nor where there anything to help him pick the lock. He took a breath what do I have to lose? Eight that, he pulled his arm back and punched the glass. It shattered into thousands of pieces, the glass cutting, and piercing his hand. He grabbed as many bottles as he could, putting them in his bag. He ran out of the room. The alarm was blasting through the hallway, with red lights flashing. Guards began flood in the halls chasing after him, he ran down the stairs, and made it to the seventh floor before an intense pain hit his leg. He fell onto the ground and stared up at the guard who just shot him. The glass began to sound like someone was scratching it, and suddenly, much like the cabinet earlier, shattered. Ropes were falling all around him.

"Not again!" The guard next him screamed, as he ran back.

Carter could feel his consciousness slipping. He saw the faint outline of someone standing over him.

"Really Carter? That's the best you can do?" The most beautiful voice said. It seemed a bit familiar, but he was too tired to remember.

Staring up at all the chaos around him, he closed his eyes and drifted into the darkness.

Sorry that it's so short, but I couldn't find, nor really remember what I wrote before, but it should still give you enough information for the next chapters.
