Hearing the front door to the Lockwood house open, Nik stood up, moving out into the foyer. I put my glass and the bottle of bourbon back on the shelf, following him. "More deputies?" I heard Tyler Lockwood ask.
"Not exactly," Nik said.
"They're hybrids."
"We were halfway to Chicago when I heard you were attacked. I had hoped to leave Mystic Falls for good, but duty calls," Nik explained, wrapping an arm around my waist as I came to a stop beside him.
"Nice to know you care."
"I don't. I should have killed you for the little stunt you and your friends pulled – stopping my heart, leaving me in a coffin to rot."
"Yeah, well, you used my body as an escape hatch, then kissed my girlfriend," Tyler accused. My head snapped over to Nik, eyes wide with shock as his body tensed.
"You what?" I glared.
Nik turned his head slightly, "it was nothing."
"Really? You think kissing someone else is 'nothing'? Are you joking?"
"We'll talk about this in a moment," he muttered through clenched teeth. Scoffing, I pushed his arm away from me and stormed out of the room. A few minutes later, Nik appeared beside me on the back patio.
"I can't believe you kissed someone else," I grumbled, "let alone Caroline."
"It really was nothing, love," he spoke, remaining calm.
"Well then why don't you explain to me how it was 'nothing'? Because in my book, kissing someone who is not your girlfriend is definitely something!" I yelled, rounding on him.
"She kissed me! I saved her from the council while I was in Tyler's body. She started kissing me and taking my clothes off. I kept trying to tell her I wasn't who she thought I was, but she wouldn't listen! She thought I was Tyler! That's the truth, I swear." Looking up at him, I could see in his eyes that he was telling the truth. Sighing, I wrapped my arms around his torso, leaning my forehead against his chest. He wrapped his arms around me, resting his chin on the top of my head.
"So I've pretty much been kissing Caroline the past couple days? Gross. Why didn't you tell me about this when you showed up the other day?"
"We were so busy dealing with your mother, it just slipped my mind." I felt him shrug. "It will never happen again. I promise."
I moved my head away from his chest, looking up at him, "Good because if you do, I will rip your tongue from your mouth."
"I love how violent and possessive you can get, kitten," he smirked.
"Yeah, well. I learned from the best," I said, chuckling slightly.

Nik and I sat outside, talking for a little while before I suddenly stood up. "I'm going inside to get a drink. Want anything?" I asked, moving towards the door. Nik shook his head and I continued on inside, going towards the office. As soon as I got to the door of the office, I saw a girl with brown hair standing by the couch, looking down at a picture. "You're a new face," I commented, causing her to put the picture down and turn.
"And I take it from your accent you're an old one. Elizabeth, right? You're an Original. And Klaus' girlfriend," she stated, a confident look in her eyes.
"Ellie. My reputation precedes me. As does my boyfriend's, I can see. Hopefully it's not all bad."
"A little bad, mostly repulsive."
I glared at her before changing the subject, "So you're a friend of Tyler's. That's strange. He's never mentioned you." A confused look crossed the girl's face as I tuned into the conversation Tyler was having with Caroline at the front door.
"You should go to the party," I heard Tyler say, "I'll be fine here."
"But I'd rather hang with you," Caroline replied.
"Trust me, I am no fun right now," he lied. A sinister smile spread across my face as I came to a conclusion.
"And I think I know why."

"She's quite fetching, that Hayley," I commented, fiddling with my new daylight ring as Tyler walked into the office.
"Where is she?" He glared.
"Oh, she had to run, but don't worry, I had her take the back door so Caroline wouldn't see," I smirked.
"Whatever you think you know –," Tyler started, moving towards the desk I sat at.
"I don't know anything," I cut him off, "but I've put together a pretty convincing picture. Why don't you tell me where my imagination deviates from reality?" I got up from the desk, slowly circling him. "You went off to the Appalachians to break Nik's sire bond. There, you met a pack of werewolves, begged them for help. Among them was a girl. She was gorgeous, with the same animal instincts as you. Emotions ran high. Inhibitions ran low."
"Stop it," Tyler interrupted, but I continued on.
"Then, in a moment of weakness, the thick sexual tension became something much more real."
"I said stop!" Tyler turned, wrapping his fingers around my throat. I simply smirked, prying his hand away.
"And Caroline has no idea," I muttered, pity running throughout my body. The phone on the desk rang, so I went over to answer it, taking my seat. "Hello Damon!"
"Ellie, where's Tyler?" Damon asked, sounding a bit agitated hearing my voice.
"Tyler's a bit occupied making big decisions about honesty and whatnot," I glared over at Tyler, leaning back in the chair. "Is there anything I can do?"
"I'm going after the vampire hunter, so if he'd like to join –," I cut Damon off.
"He wouldn't, but I know someone who would," I smirked. After hanging up the phone, I went out to the backyard, where Nik was sitting.
"Well?" He asked, looking over as I sat down.
"Just as we thought. He nearly ripped my head off when I mentioned it." He chuckled. "Damon called. He said he was going after the vampire hunter. I told him you might be interested in helping." A smile spread across Nik's face at the idea.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter. The picture above is of Ellie's new daylight ring. (As you may remember, she had to destroy her other one)
