Valentine's Day is the day of love with your loved ones, like your significant other, your family, or your friends! At my school, we usually have a lame dance to celebrate these kinds of holidays, and it's just me and my friends that sit in the bleachers of the gym waiting for it to end. But this year, something was really different. I had a crush, and I wasn't going to wait.
(In the story, I will refer to my crush as C)
Now, me being practical, I thought about this in preparation for about a week. Yes. Yes, a week. I thought of ways to do it, I thought of ways to approach said crush and explain the situation and ask the life changing question, but I decided I wasn't going to ask them out. I knew they liked someone else. They still like that someone else. And I'm completely happy with that. If they like them, so be it. As long as they don't come crawling at me with their problems, I'm cool. But here's the funny thing : they know I like them. It was a fateful day in science class. I was sitting next to them, and I sat just a little too close, and I knew I gave it away. So without context, I emailed him that night saying," Is it obvious?" The next morning, he replied with a yes. That day in science was super awkward. But after that, we gained a bonding.
Back to the whole situation. I hear you through the screen saying," But Bee! How did you ask him to be your Valentine?" Well, viewer, it's simple. I was in my moms car (broom broom) and she was inside the gas station, and that gave me the opportunity to open Snapchat and take a selfie saying "Will you be my Valentine?"I sent him the above photo, and the next morning in science, I eagerly awaited his answer. But low and behold, he never saw the photo. So when I said," Did you see my text?" He said," Oh, sorry, no, but I'll check it now. You sent me a photo right?" I shyly said yes, and turned around back to my table and did a head bashing motion towards the desk until he caught my attention. "Oh, sure. Just let me ask E first." E was who C liked since 6th grade, and mind you we are in 8th grade currently.
Let me clarify that I WAS NOT ASKING HIM OUT. I WAS ASKING HIM TO BE MY FRIEND FOR THE DAY. But don't worry, this story is soooo much more interesting.
At the time, it seemed reasonable that he would ask his crush first. He likes her, and she doesn't mind those kind of stupid one day things. But, reader, do not worry. If your wondering, of course C did not take it as me asking him for the day. He toke it as me asking him out. Like, me asking him to be my boyfriend. Now, remember that C is my crush, so of course I'd be cool with dating him. But I didn't know he took it that way until I was at the dance and hadn't heard an answer for C. But luckily, he sat a few rows in front of us. I walked up to him and sat next to him. This is how the conversation went:
Me-
Hey C!
C-
Oh, hey.
Me-
Has E said anything?
C-
E said that she needs to think about it.
Me-
Oooooooookkk...I then walked away in utter confusion because, why would she need to think about something so stupid? And thankfully, me being stupid, I didn't ask why she needed to think about it until the dance was almost over.
I walked over to him when we started to leave and called him.
This is how this conversation went:
Me-
C!!!
C-
*tiny wave*
Me-
C, I need to ask you something.
C-
*takes out earbuds*
Yeah..?
Me-
<whispering>
Did you ask E out or did you ask her for the day?And... I will leave you hangin' cause this is getting really little long, so enjoy this tasteful cliff hanger.
