Monday, 6:30 AM

I woke up Monday morning as I normally do Monday mornings; unwillingly and not very prettily. After I got my hair up into a French braid, had my morning cup of coffee and bowl of cereal, and had put on my favorite shirt and jeans I left my house.  Getting in my car and worrying that I would be late for school as always I thought about the completely normal day ahead of me.  I had school, work, and then I could come home and get some of that sleep I've needed for a while. As I arrived my school I jumped out of the car and tried to make it to class in time. Sliding in the doors of the classroom just as the bell rang, I sat down and tried not to fall asleep through class. School has always been easy for me. I always loved to read and everyone says that's why I do so well but I always liked to focus on my grades and make it through school because everyone told me that that was what I needed to get a job and live a happy life. That's all I want. A happy future.

4:30 PM

After school I headed over to our local coffee shop Lava Java where I work. My friend Clarissa was working so I told her my days worries as I put on my apron and got ready to get to work.

"Oh, so you know Makenzie right? Well, she was just flirting away with Chance today. She was giggling away and touching his arm and the whole nine yards. Can't she see he's not into her?!"

"Oh geez, must she?"

"Yeah and then-"

Then a customer looking for a cup of coffee, not the daily gossip, walked in the door. She was-suspicious-to say the least. She looked completely normal but sometimes you know that someone is just a little questionable and I definitely knew that about her.  She was tall, with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing black heels and a long black dress. Her hair looked like she had had it done for whatever event she had attended that day. She was not old, maybe 19, but she looked aged. As if she had lived through far more than we knew. She came up to the counter and Clarissa went to help her.

"Hello, welcome to Lava Java! What can I get you?"

"Hi, a large coffee. Black."

She seemed a hundred percent normal but something was still-off-about her. I still couldn't place it. After she had payed and got her drink a steady line of customers were coming in so I didn't have a chance to talk to Clarissa again.

8:00 PM

Back at home, I put on my most comfortable pajamas and plopped into bed. My cat, Lulu, curled up next to me. Something about the lady at the coffee shop keeps bringing my thoughts back to her... Deciding I would think about it tomorrow I drifted off to sleep.
