Ryden Moss
The crisp, autumn air nipped at my cheeks as I slowly trudged towards the fountain where my brothers and I always met up at. Lynden was still at band practice, and Camden was still in wrestling but I enjoyed my alone time. Just because we were triplets didn’t mean we were always glued at the hip. I love my brothers, don’t get me wrong, but they tend to annoy me sometimes. Lynden with his loud, outgoing self, and Camden with his dark, bad-ass self. And here I was…the quiet, shy, pretty boy. Yes, we were an odd group, but we were siblings. We were close, we told each other everything. We even told our older brother Thayer everything. I missed Thayer. I was disappointed that I would be leader of the pack when I knew he deserved it. He was the oldest and wasn’t a freak like me. I couldn’t be separated from Camden and Lynden for very long. They fueled me. They made me myself. Without them I would be some sick, hollow husk of a body. Camden and Lynden were polar opposites, of course, and their energy fueled me. I was their equal. I was both of them combined. This happened very rarely. Wolves never had triplets. It was rare to have twins. Twins were joined at the hips at all times. They were like Camden and Lynden, but could be apart. I couldn’t. I could already feel my energy running low. I needed one of their contact. I hated being so dependent on them. They didn’t mind, but I did. I was like the youngest to them. I was the weakest, and I was supposed to rule over my pack. Thayer was the better choice, but his mate was the daughter of another pack’s alpha. So therefore he would be their alpha and his wife would become his Luna. So next was me. Lynden couldn’t rule, because he was too nice. Camden couldn’t rule, because he was too evil. So left was me. I don’t know what I would do without them when they find their mates. I would probably curl up and die. The Elders said that I wouldn’t need them once I found my mate, but he wasn’t for sure.
“Hey Ryden.” Kelsie smiled sliding up next to me. Her golden blonde hair always seemed to hang in the most perfect curls I had ever seen. I’m not going to lie, Kelsie was beautiful, but she was wild. She was pretty much Lynden in girl form. She had secrets, everyone does, but she doesn’t care if others find out. She slept with a girl, she didn’t care if people knew. She didn’t care what others thought of her. She partied all the time and didn’t care.
“Hey. You aren’t glued to Craven’s side today.” I chuckled looking down at my hands. I wasn’t really good at talking to girls. Lynden and Camden had that trait.
“Craven? Geez, I couldn’t wait to get away from her. She is such a bitch to all of us.” She groaned letting her head fall on my shoulder. I instantly stiffened. I never really made contact with anyone. I was scared I would steal their energy. It has happened before to Thayer. Nothing happened though, so that was good.
“Then why are you always with her?” I asked looking at her. Her piercing blue eyes locked with mine and I was suddenly lost. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe.
“Ryden? Ryden, are you okay?” Kelsie said with concern filling her eyes. I snapped out of my trance and realized I had somehow curled into a ball and was shaking. What the hell?
“Yeah, I’m fine.” I whispered trying to give her a smile. Suddenly Lynden was by my side and had his hand pressed onto my shoulder. I was running low on energy, but I couldn’t let Kelsie know how weak I was.
“Good. I don’t want anything bad to happen to you.” She smiled looking at Lynden oddly.
“What is that supposed to mean?” I growled. What does everyone thing they need to take care of me? Lynden was getting angry and passing it off to me. He understood how I felt. He tried not to make me feel weak, but he did.
“Nothing. I have to get going. Training.” She said giving us a bright smile before running off towards Jamie and Hazel who were waiting. What was up with those girls? They were always so weird around me, but ever since the party they have been talking to me more.
