Finally reaching the border of Violet city, (Y/N) trudged through the arches with Zorua trotting silently by her side. The city was big but there was not many people here since they feared the Burnt Tower where the legendary Ho-Oh is said to reside and most people feared its power which (Y/N) understood, secretly however, she had always wanted to see the bird Pokemon but she knew that was never going to happen.

Walking on the coblestone path, she looked around at the ancient buildings. Some were old enough that their entire structure appeared to be collapsing in on itself and some appeared not to belong to people but Pokemon which came in and out of buildings as they pleased and nested on the rooftops.

Suddenly, she and Zorua were stopped by a Younster who was tossing a Pokeball up into the air and catching it again "hey miss, battle me!" he demanded. Glancing down to Zorua in its Pikachu illusion, she looked back up and declined with a shake of a head "sorry, me and Zorua don't battle." However, the Youngster had resorted to pestering (Y/N) as she walked briskly out of the town in the direction of Cherrygrove city "GO AWAY!" she yelled, turning on her heal to face the boy.

Zorua beside her growled which was a big mistake! The boy looked down at th 'Pikachu' in suprise, Pikachu don't growl threateningly like that "say, how come your Pikachu growled like that?" he asked curiously as he pointed at Zorua accusingly. Before (Y/N) could answer, Zorua had already crafted an illusion of Beedrill behind them making the Younster stutter "GYAAA!" and before (Y/N) could say 'sorry' the boy had already entered the safety of Violet City.

(Y/N), as she walked down route 30, was stressing over the fact that she and Zoru nearly got busted. What would she do if some stupid Trainer would force them into a battle meaning that this Young Zorua would have to fight against Pokemon 10x stronger than it? Heck, she couldn't do anything, she wasn't even a trainer and she still had a year to go! the sooner they reached New Bark Town the better in her opinion.

Zoru's Prov

Looking up at (Y/N), Zorua could tell that something was wrong. True, it had only been a day since it met her but somehow they had already grown a bond between them. Leaping elegantly up onto her shoulder, Zorua took of its illusion and giggled when (Y/N) frowned at it once she realised that its illusion had been deactivated. Zorua frowned once (Y/N) had returned her gaze forward, despite the fact that she had just started scratching behind its ear which she knew it liked.

It was a peaceful journey until (Y/N) suddenly asked "hey, do you want to know how to talk Zorua?" the question intrigued Zorua 'talk like a human? that would be fun and shall make it easier to hide in a human illusion'  Zorua agreed with a nod. (Y/N) stopped and took a break from walking and planted herself down on a stone then looked at Zorua who sat down on her lap making her trousers muddy "okay, lets start with something easy...try and say (Y/N)."

**Time skip**

With some effort, Zorua had managed to learn three words (Y/N), No and Hungry which was what (Y/N) thought it needed to know but seemed unsure of it.  After eating a couple of Oran berries farmed from a berry tree, the two ate peacefully and in silence with the only sound of bug type Pokemon around them along with the wind gently blowing against them.

Zorua finished its Oran berry in one large gulp and looked up at (Y/N) with its best pleading look which it new she would give into, and she did and gave it a small slice of her lunch and refused to give it anymore even when Zorua used the move Fake Tears which she had managed to learn to shrug off now.

Returning to the road, (Y/N) stretched in the Johto sunshine and smiled as the pleasant breeze picked up her (H/C) (H/L) and Zorua too seemed to enjoy it as it jumped back onto (Y/N) shoulder and closed its eyes and leant into the wind. The pair almost appeared to be trainer and partner, only, if someone was to look more closely they would see that the young girl does not have any Pokeball's on he person and she was younger than a 10 year old.

If the pair were to look up, they would have seen the legendary Ho-Oh flying above them silently riding on the thermals, you see, to see this legendary Pokémon means that you will have good luck on their up coming journeys and good luck is something they will need....

The Next day...

(Y/N) Prov

Waking up was easier this morning since Zorua had not sleep walked onto her head which she was grateful for. Getting up off the Pokémon centre's guest room bed, she changed out of (F/C) Pjs and into her regular comfy clothes which was a bit of a hassle as the sleep had yet to leave her system making coordination a task.

Eventually having gotten changed, she fed Zorua who made her mentally squeal as it opened its bright blue eyes which it blinked innocently before letting out a small yawn showing its two small canines.

Who would suspect this cute creature was more trouble than adorableness? this was the question she asked herself as she prepared a bowl of Pokémon food which she had brought last night so that Zorua could have a full meal for a change. She herself had a can of soup and some berry bread which she was fine with; it was cheap and had all the protein and vitamins she needed to keep her going through the day which (Y/N) suspected would be long one.

Cherrygrove city lived up to its name, the streets were colourful and lively as she and Zorua walked down the gazing at all the stalls and traders going by. Upon her shoulder, Zorua in its Pikachu illusion cried out enthusiastically "Hungry! Hungry!" its actions caused the people to stare as (Y/N) blushed a little from embarrassment from the people gazing at her judgementally 'it wasn't me!'  her inside voice shouted. Looking over at where Zorua was pointing, she saw a stall selling peculiar looking ice cream's.

Walking over, asked the Old lady wearing a floral dress and straw hat curiously "Excuse me miss, what are these?" The old lady smiled and answered cheerfully "Castelia cone's young one, a Unova speciality." (Y/N) gasped then asked "did you say Unova?!" the old lady nodded her head again, (Y/N) looked up at Zorua then leant over the stall to whisper in the ladies ear "do you know of a Pokémon called Zorua?"

The old lady seemed confused by this question as she hesitantly nodded "oh yes, they are the first evolutionary stage of the illusion masters called Zoroark, whys that dear?" (Y/N) glanced up at the 'Pikachu' riding on her shoulder grinning at the ladies complement. Looking back she said "Zorua, show yourself to this lady behind the stall...please" obeying, Zorua leapt of her shoulder, onto the old ladies then onto the floor. It was only took a few moments for the old ladies eyes to widen "my, my; your a long way from home little one."

***************

(Y/N) took her time when explaining her and Zorua's problem. The lady soaked it all in before finally saying in understanding "don't worry young one, I will take you to Prof Elm myself on my wagon."

The 'Wagon' was ancient, and the Pokémon which pulled it caused (Y/N) to become uneasy since in front of them stood a Tauros waiting patiently for them. Cautiously, (Y/N) lifted Zorua up onto the drivers seat and she followed, slowly sitting down and watching the Tauros in case she had to bail.

The old lady chuckled lightly "don't threat, this old girl wouldn't harm a Butterfree...unless I tell it to of course and in that case..." a shadow was cast over her dull brown eyes causing (Y/N) and Zorua to sweat a little "...she is one of the strongest Tauros in the Johto region."

The ride was pleasant as the Tauros steadily pulled the wagon along, the lady sat next to her glanced at (Y/N) who gently stroked Zorua who had fallen asleep a while ago "you know, when I was a young girl living in Unova; I had always wanted to see a Zoroark pack. But I guess this is the next best thing" she said calmly. (Y/N) looked back at the old lady and asked "what's your name?" she replied "Maggie, yours?" (Y/N) answered "(Y/N) (L/N)" not too soon after, their world yet again fell back into silence.
