This seems like a good way to start off whatever this is going to become. Also, I will include manga, just to make this easier. Anyways:
#10: Ender's Game
Being one of the first sci-fi books that I read, I can safely say that it was the one that turned me on to the genre, which alone is almost enough to put it on the list. (I don't like reading new genres very often) However, I should still tell those of you who haven't read it what it's about. Children with extraordinary capabilities are recruited to train in preparation for the war against aliens who have shown up to destroy Earth. (It's been a while since I've read this, so my recollection might not be perfect. Sorry...)#9: Naruto
Quite possibly one of the longest-running manga series that exists comes in at #9, because I used to read it all the time when I was younger. It just never really seemed to get boring, either. There aren't that many series that run for that long, AND keep the reader's attention. (I don't really think I need to summarize this. If you haven't heard of it, there's no helping you.)#8: The Lord Of The Rings
Yes, this was bound to be on the list somewhere, because it is basically a classic in the fantasy genre. The story was great, but I just couldn't get over the way it was written. Thanks to most of the wording, it just couldn't keep my attention, and it dragged on in a few parts. If it weren't for this, I'd probably have ranked it higher.#7: Night Shift
This is actually a collection of short horror stories written by Stephen King. Now, I've been watching horror movies for a while, but I've just recently begun reading horror novels, and this one has been quite entertaining. However, it faces the same setbacks as the ones I wrote about for the Lord Of The Rings series. The way he wrote these stories kind of diminished the "chiller factor" that horror novels create.#6: Skeleton Creek
Man, it's been forever since I've read this series. It's written as a journal, and would fall under the mystery/horror genres. Put simply, a boy moves in to the small town of Skeleton Creek, and meets a girl who begins telling him about all the weird occurrences that have happened in town. The two of them work together to try to unravel the common thread that explains these happenings. I would strongly recommend this series to you all.#5: Goosebumps
Man, you wanna talk nostalgia? Then let's talk about R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series. When I was really little, I would read these books, and they freaked the hell out of me. I used to not be able to handle any kind of horror, so these books were fucking freaky. Last I checked, there were over 50 different books in this series, and it would be great for some of you younger readers who, unlike me, could handle some horror.#4: The 5th Wave
Now, some people have told me that the movie was poorly made, but I haven't seen the movie. I can safely say that the book is quite entertaining, though, and that's why it has earned spot #4. It's kinda similar to Ender's Game, but this book keeps your attention the entire way through. Aliens have shown up around Earth, and have knocked out anything that runs on electricity. This was the 1st wave. The second wave caused flooding on the shores of the continents, forcing humanity to gather in the center of the continents. The third wave brought a disease that was spread through birds that would kill 97% (I think) of those infected with it. The fourth wave meant that the aliens were among the human race killing us off, but they look just like humans, causing paranoia worldwide.#3: Black Butler
Yes, I would say that this was placed accurately. Wouldn't you agree, manga fans? Anyways, I've just recently been reading this series, but it has been quite intriguing from the start. I mean, the main character is a DEMON BUTLER! You don't hear of stories like that very often. Anyways, I don't want to spoil anything else for those of you that haven't read this series yet, so go check it out!#2: Warriors
Yes, I like reading a series about cats. Most of you out there who are wondering, why the hell did you put such a lame series at #2, are probably those who either haven't read the series, or have only read a book or two. This series is way more entertaining than it sounds. (Sorry about the rant, but you wouldn't believe how many people I've had to defend this series against). Anyways, this leaves...#1: Percy Jackson And The Olympians
Surely you must've seen this coming. And before you say anything, NO, I'm not talking about the new series, too. I'm talking about the original series. The series that I grew up with; the series that became the first fandom that I became a part of; the series that I've recently re-read and still enjoyed. Also, don't let the movies deter you from reading the series if you haven't. I don't really understand how someone could butcher such a great series when they make a movie about it, (surely someone agrees with me, right?) but the books are amazing. This is why, without a doubt, this is the #1 book series that I've read.Well, that wraps up my first countdown, and geez, that was way harder than I thought it would be. Hope you guys enjoyed it, and don't forget to send me any countdowns that you want me to do as well!
