This is the emotion Olive felt most of the time. As she sat in her room, lonely in the family's mansion, she couldn't help but feel sad and bored. She felt melancholy.
ii. WHAT'RE YOU AFRAID OF?
Her mother asked the day she boarded the train, the day of her 13th birthday, the day her father died. Everytime she would answer, "I don't know.". Her mother asked what she was afraid of one last time on Olives 14th birthday, the day her mother died. And this time, all Oli could do was start blabbering all her fears to the last person she loved "Losing you. Rejection, loneliness, death, that we're meaningless-"
Her mom cut her off for the last time, using her last breath to whisper, "Grab what your afraid of, and kiss it. Fear only gets to you if you let it. Youll do great things Olive, I love you." Her moms soft green eyes fluttered shut and her breathing stopped completely. The only sound now being Olives steady sobbing and the soft buzz of the AC through a house that already seemed to cold for her liking.
On July 26th, 1994, Velinda Zach died. And Olive Zach felt the room grow cold, and wouldnt feel warmth for a while longer.
