My sweat was racing down my face as I wait for the signal to start. Beside me was runners waiting for the starting pistol's sound.
*thump thump* *thump thump*
I swallowed the lump inside my throat, clenched my fists and felt the heat flowing throughout my body.
*BANG!*
I stood up and ran as fast as I could. The only thing I was hearing was my heart's loud thumping and the crowds' cheer. Thinking back at the times when I had my rigorous training, my feet sped up.
'I must win. I think I can. I know I can.'
Those words that kept on repeating inside my head. I sprinted towards my opponents, falling at 4th place. Sweat were rolling down from my head to toe. I was biting my lip while running fast. When the finish line was drawing near, I sprinted as fast as I could. I passed by my opponents as I was running.
The crowds' cheers were getting louder and louder as we raced towards the finish line. Every footstep I make, my heart's beating faster and faster.
*PRRRRTTTTT!!!*
A loud whistle signalled the end of the race, declaring me as the winner.
Destiny Faith Collins - 1st Placer
My friends and my coach ran towards me, handing me water and towel.
"Destiny! Congratulations! You won again!" My coach said.
"As expected of our ace runner! Congrats, Destiny!"
"Thank you. Well, I couldn't do it if you were not here for me." I said.
I saw my mom and dad waving at me as they walked towards me.
"Congratulations, baby!" My mom blurted.
"We're so proud of you, Destiny." Dad said.
"Thanks, mom, dad." I replied.
The staff called my attention, pointing at the stage. I went up to the stage while they handed me the trophy. We posed for pictures and shook hands.
After the event, I went to the locker room and changed my clothes. As I went outside, others were still congratulating me. A big smile was painted on my face as I headed towards the van. My dad and mom was waiting there for me.
"Where do you want to go today?" Dad asked.
"Home. I want to go home and rest. Can we do that?" I answered.
"Sure baby, anywhere you want." Mom said.
We got inside the van and Dad started the engine. I was looking at the window and I saw homeless people begging for food. People were just passing by them like they saw nothing. If I was them, I could share anything even if it's just a little thing.
The ride from the field to our house was a little bit long, so I decided to take a nap.
Oh, wait. How rude of me, I didn't even introduce myself. The name is Destiny Faith Collins. I'm 17 years old. The only daughter of my mom and dad. I'm not talented but I am a professional runner. I ran in different races around the world and always took home the trophy. In my team, I am referred to as the ace, since they always expect me to win and bring home the bacon.
I started competing in races ever since I was 7 years old. Starting at an early age, I do believe that I am healthy. My family is average, we can buy what we need and what we want. My Dad Mom are professors. Let's just say I can get what I want.
Even though I am living quite a good life, something's missing. I am looking for something that can complete me, and I don't know what it is. I'm still young and it's a bit early to think about that so I'm just enjoying my running life.
