Hitsukarin

Karin was doing her math homework on the desk which was right next to her bedroom window. She couldn't concentrate on the several division problems, so she looked out the window and began thinking about other things. She kept thinking about her brother, Ichigo, and about his Soul Reaper abilities. Why wouldn't he tell her anything about Soul Reapers? She was always curious about them, and she would always ask Ichigo questions, but all her brother would tell her is "Don't worry about it."

She sighed. She was mindlessly staring at the dark sky outside of the window, when something caught her eye. She saw a boy around her age with silver hair, wearing a black uniform similar to Ichigo's Soul Reaper uniform. The only difference is that the boy had a white cloak on too. The boy was standing in mid air, facing the Kurosaki house, looking to the left. He was gripping what looked like a sword hanging around his shoulder.

Could he also be a Soul Reaper? she thought. She knew she shouldn't go out...but she was dying to learn more about the Soul Reapers and her curiosity took the best of her. Karin slipped on her shoes and coat and ran downstairs. Yuzu, her sister, asked Karin "Where are you running off to?!" Karin quickly made up some lame excuse, "Um, I'm going to get the mail" she said as she ran out the door.

She looked up and saw that the boy was still standing there. "Good, he's still there" she told herself. She waved her arms and shouted to the boy, "Hey?! Are you also a Soul Reaper?!"

The boy looked down at Karin with surprise in his bright turquoise eyes. "Wait, this human girl can see me??" He asked himself. He was about to go down and simply talk to her but suddenly, a Hollow appeared and was headed towards Karin. The young Soul Reaper flash stepped to Karin and shielded her from the Hollow. He quickly killed the monster with ease.

"Wow...that was amazing!" She told the boy. "What's your name?!" She asked. The boy turned to Karin and introduced himself, "I'm Toshiro Hitsugaya. How is it that you can see me?"

Karin walked closer to Toshiro, "Toshiro...that's a cool name. I'm Karin, and I know about you since my brother is a Soul Reaper too" Toshiro's eyes widened, "Wait a minute, Karin? Are you Ichigo Kurosaki's sister?" Karin smiled and nodded. She was excited about finally meeting another soul reaper.

He calmed down and a gentle look was in his eyes. "Ichigo talks about you a lot." He said with a small, warm smile.

"Really?! I didn't think he would since he never talks to me or Yuzu about you guys." She said with a slightly bummed voice and a frown. Her face then lit up, "Hey Toshiro, can I ask you some questions about Soul Reapers?"

Toshiro didn't really want to answer any questions because he felt like Ichigo should be the one to answer them, but he saw how excited Karin was. He sighed, "Fine, but only one question. first though, I have to get my gigai back on. It's a fake human body I use so I can blend in among humans."

He walked over half a block, with Karin following him. He picked up his gigai which was sitting on the ground, and walked into it. Karin watched in amazement. Toshiro stood up, now wearing a school uniform. "So, have you thought of the question you were going to ask me?" He asked the raven haired girl.

Karin thought for a moment, but didn't really know what to ask. "Umm, why do you wear a white cloak while you're in your Soul Reaper form?" She asked. She then rubbed her head...'out of all the questions, I had to ask the lamest one' she thought to herself.

Toshiro explained, "Well I'm a captain and that is my captain's cloak. I'm captain of the tenth squad." Karin laughed, "No way, a little boy like you is a captain?!" Toshiro got irritated, "I'm not little! I'm probably fifty years older than you!"

Karin was puzzled.."How are you fifty years older if you look around my age? Do Soul Reapers age slowly or something?" She asked. Toshiro patted her head, "I only agreed to answer one question about Soul Reapers."

Karin rolled her eyes and sighed, "Right.." With that, Toshiro began walking away. Before he left out of her sight, Karin reached out towards him and shouted, "Wait! Toshiro! Do you even have anywhere to stay the night?"

Toshiro turned around and replied, "Not really...I'll just find a roof top to sleep on" Karin ran towards him, "If you want, you can stay at my place. It's Friday night, so we can watch a movie too" Toshiro smiled but said, "No thanks." and was about to turn to walk away again.

Karin grabbed his arm, "You have nowhere to stay. What if someone finds you on a rooftop and thinks you're a burglar?!"

Toshiro knew she was right, so he reluctantly said, "Fine, but only for tonight. I don't want to be too much of a bother" The two then started walking back to the Kurosaki house.

Karin's dad was out of town, so Ichigo was in charge for the night. Karin walked in her house with Toshiro following, "Ichigo, is it okay if Toshiro stays the night?" she asked her brother.

Ichigo looked at Toshiro with a twitch in his eye, "So Toshiro, who the hell said you could date my sister" Toshiro got red, "You idiot, you've got the wrong idea! She invited me over because I have nowhere to stay. Oh, and that's Captain Hitsugaya to you!"

Karin turned to Ichigo, "Ichigo stop being an idiot. We're just going to watch a movie then we'll go to sleep" Ichigo rolled his eyes, "Whatever Karin. I'll be in my room. Yuzu's already asleep so you can't watch the movie in your room." He then walked up the stairs and went to his room.

Karin pondered. "So I guess we'll watch the movie here in the living room Toshiro" she said. Toshiro sat down on the couch, "Sure" he replied.

Karin went to room, changed into her pajamas, and brought a couple blankets, pillows and an action movie about car racing down to the living room. She handed a blanket and pillow to Toshiro and said he could lay on the couch. Karin put the movie on and laid on the other couch.

Within thirty minutes of the movie, Toshiro noticed that Karin was already snoring and that her blanket had fallen to the floor. He got up and turned off the tv. He then picked up the blanket and put it over Karin. He went back to his couch and laid back down.

He watched Karin sleep for a little while. He realized that this was the first night in the human world in which he didn't miss the Soul Society. Being there with Karin comforted him.

Karin was already dreaming, and she was dreaming about Toshiro. Before she fell asleep, she thought Toshiro was kinda cute, but of course, she could never tell him.

Karin then opened her eyes and realized that it was now morning. She sat up and looked over to the other couch, hoping to see Toshiro still laying there. She was disappointed when she saw that he was already gone. His folded blanket was neatly stacked on top of the pillow and a small note lay on top. Karin got up and read the note.

'Thank you Karin' it read in his neat handwriting. Karin picked up the blankets and pillows and went up to her room. She put that all away and kept the note on top of her nightstand. She looked at the note again. Although she wasn't sure if she would ever see Toshiro again, the note gave her a sense of hope that they would meet again someday in the near future.

*Author's Random Note* Hitsukarin is one of my favorite crack ships. I hope you enjoyed this story...I know it isn't much. Later though, I'll write another chapter about the two. Thanks for reading!
