"What have you done, Gabriel?" Raphael snapped at his brother, his coal-like eyes reflecting his anger.
From beside him, Michael spoke, "This a disgrace to our entire race, brother. How could you?"
"Our people are losing faith in you. What were you thinking?" Uriel said, his low timbre the calmest of the three brothers.
Gabriel stood with his back to his kin, his eyes staring out over the earth beneath his feet. His dark brown eyes were dulled by shame and guilt, but his heart remained behind his choice. He knew his rash decision had weakened his family ties, put shame to their race, and upset the balance of nature, but he felt it had been a necessary evil. Clenching his fists, he raised his head and turned to face his brothers.
"Do not speak to me as if I am a child. You forget which of us is in charge here. This is my domain to do with as I so choose. You do not step foot in my home and disrespect me, blood or no blood," Gabriel's voice boomed like a clap of thunder through the room, his fist coming down on the desk in front of him hard enough to crack the wood. The Archangels shrunk back from the force of their eldest brother's anger.
"The damage is done. I did what was necessary to save the woman I loved, and I will not be scolded for it," his voice was calmer now, his cold, calculating mask settling back into place.
Michael frowned, his cold blue eyes filled with disapproval. "Gabriel, you must understand our worries. Your escapade with this human girl has upset the balance. Her time had come; it was your duty to make sure her life went its due course and maintain the balance," he said.
Gabriel sighed and rested his fingertips on the desk, running his eyes over the furnished wood. "I understand the cost my actions have had. And I am prepared to correct my mistakes. I will do what is needed to restore the balance."
Uriel's eyes flashed in understanding, the recognition reflecting in the expressions of his brothers. "You're going to fulfill the prophecy. Tas, kuris yra du duos savo gyvenimą gamtos altoriaus. Tik jo kraujas išsiliejo bus atkurti pusiausvyrą," the youngest brother whispered.
Gabriel raised his eyes to Uriel's, giving him a firm nod. "I am. I upset the balance. It is my duty to fix it. Leiskite savo kraujo paleisti," he said.
Leiskite savo kraujo paleisti.
