Grace is trapped under the hand of a corrupt government, living in a world where everything is monitored, watched and recorded.

Haunted by her past and caged by the strict class systems of her world she followed the rules, lay low and did as she was told. But then people began to disappear and she met Anarchy.

Anarchy's rules are simple, kill or be killed.

My implant is going off, it vibrates inside my skull and claws at my eardrums, wincing I will it to stop and inch my eyes open. Sun shines through the crack between my bedroom curtains ,reflecting and sending beams of light dancing across the stark white walls. Everything is either white or silver now after the government ruled free use of colour to be ' the most significant cause of the corruption inside the minds of the youth of today'. Silver for the Kings and white for the Peasants, that's what my mother used to say. Re-closing my eyes I lie still hoping that my implant hasn't alerted anyone of my awakening, letting my mind clear I begin to sort through my brain to find Donna's icon. I peel back homework reminders revealing her round glowing face. Underneath her picture red letters read engaded. She's not noticed I'm awake yet, that means I've got time, not much but enough to do what I have to do.

Slowly I squint through my lashes and caution a slight turn of the head. The bedroom door, also a blinding white, is still firmly shut, locked. That should buy me some more time, just in case. My implant buzzes sending shock waves of rippling electricity down the nape of my neck.
"Grace?" A voice reverberates through my skull.
"Grace, it's Lux" Lux says through my implant.
"I'm here Lux... Can you turn down your incall vol? I think I might be deaf now" I think back ,annoyance tingeing my words.
"Sure thing, gimme a second, I can never find the settings app" He mutters failing to hide the amusement in his voice.
"Got it!" He exclaims into my implant.
"Now Grace would you like to gaze at the stars with me?" He whispers into my skull, the words barely audible slipping off his metaphorical tongue.
"Only if you will stop using those stupid codewords" I chuckle back.
He sighs melodramatically.
"Fine" Lux grumbles drawing out the 'e'. Then the conversation ends abruptly with a 'click'.

The thought projection of our conversation is replaced by static and then darkness engraved with lines upon lines of silver numbers. I roll my head and begin working through the coding, altering the sums and rewriting chunks. Molding it into something of my own creation. I feel Lux log back in,
"What have you got so far?"
"You failed Lux, badly."
"But you can fix it, my sweet Grace" he chuckles, teasing me. Lux knows I'll do anything he asks me to, that's the way it's been since we where three years old.
"I hate you" I mumble and begin to change more coding. Lux chuckles,
" I love you too, now what are you giving me? Straight As?"
"As if!" I snort "Let's be realistic here Lux... I'll give you Ds and maybe a few Cs"
"You injure me with your cruel, cruel words Grace Darling" I can practically hear the fake swoon he almost certainly just did.
"Whatever... You owe me lunch"
"Only for you, Miss Darling"
I finish off the hack adding three As just to spice things up a bit and close my 'hacking station'.
"See you in school, Mr Lord"
"Meet you in hell, Miss Darling" and with that he's gone.

I log out of my implant and glance at the digital clock on my grubby white nightstand. 6:30 am. Thirty minutes plugged in, Donna is going to notice I'm not down for breakfast any second.

There is a sharp knock at the door.
"Grace!" I groan and shuffle across the room.
"Grace! Get up now!" Shifting through heaps of dirty white uniform I find a moderately clean shirt paired with a less clean pair of uniform trousers.
"Don't make me override this lock young lady!" I shove my hair into a quick bun and walk slowly to the door, dragging my feet across the hard white floor.
"That's it! I'm going to op-" I fling open the door and grin at Donna's infuriated face. Her eyes are bulging awkwardly out of their small sockets and her mouth is knotted in a small 'O' shape.
"Morning Donna!" I beam and shove past her into the hallway.
