I jump in
Being surrounded by water is a relaxing sensation
Bubbles escape from my mouth and nose
The nice cool chill spreading through my limbs
I might not be able to breathe but I can finally take a breath
Floating is like flying but more quiet
The silence wraps around me like a giant warm blanket
The light above barely breaks through the surface
And I begin to be submerged by not only water but now by darkness too
The darker it gets the more calm I become
I feel that pounding feeling inside but I ignore it
My mind is finally clear as I continue to sink
I forget about roles and responsibilities
I begin to imagine I'm floating in space
Millions of exuberant stars around me
I swing my arms like a bird and soar through the water
The rushing liquid on my body makes me feel powerful
I feel safe
As if absolutely nothing could ever hurt me
The feeling comes back clawing at my insides
I swiftly fly upwards like a hot air balloon rising in the air
I break through the choppy surface
I gasp for air as my lungs beg for oxygen
The cold ladder rungs snap me back to reality
And I climb out
