Clary wasn’t far from Ruby’s room when she nearly knocked into someone coming up the stairs with a tray with 2 cups of tea and biscuits on it.

It was Sophia.

“Oh my gosh! I thought I told you to stay away!” Sophia gave her a furious glare, her voice was a hushed but furious whisper.

“I know, I know I’m sorry, it’s not my fault and my mum wanted me to bring up some apple pie. Wait that doesn’t matter, who are those people in those cages? why are they being held hostage?

Sophia looked at her for a while. Clary didn’t know if she was still furious or if she was sympathizing at what she had just seen.

“You shouldn’t be here, you need to leave and this time, please don’t come back. It’s for your own good. You see those people in there? They are cursed. They have trespassed this property, and now they will probably never leave.”

“Why don’t you just unlock them, or go to the police!?”

“Trust me, there’s nothing I would want to do more,” Tears started to swell in her eyes. “But they are cursed and if Mr Findley found out I have called the police, or tried to set them free they would curse me too and bad things would happen to me and to them.” The tears rolled down her cheeks, as she pointed towards the door.

“Oh Sophia, I’m sorry. But I want to help you, help them. I’m not leaving until you tell me about this curse, and how I can break it.”

Sophia thought for a moment.

“Monday is my day off, so meet me at the library at noon.”

“Okay, Monday at noon.” Clary repeated her words.

“We never had this conversation Clary.” he said then walked into Ruby’s room. Clary stood there trying to let what she had just witnessed and heard sink in. She was determined to break this curse and she wouldn’t stop until she had.

She returned to Ruby’s room, and had her tea. She and Ruby talked for a while and exchanged numbers. She was quite a nice girl when you got to know her. She was quite lonely and surprisingly didn’t have many friends. Because of the rumour that was pronoun to her aunt and uncle, a lot of people didn’t like her and thought she was evil. Clary knew how she felt. Hopefully they would be able to talk at school or maybe even hang out. Despite what she had witnessed in the mansion, Clary needed a friend.

She wondered if Ruby knew about what and who her aunt and uncle locked away in the room.

Before leaving, Clary snuck into the room again and gave some biscuits to a very grateful Ally. Her heart lurched at the sight of her stuck in that cell, caged like an animal. Clary promised to get her out soon,

She said Good-bye to Ruby and Mr and Mrs Findley before setting off back home.
