Chapter 1
In this chapter it is very important to speak about the main character, Nancy, in detail so you will understand the changes that happen to her in the next few chapters. I have written about her family, her personality, how she grew up, her goals and her dreams.
Nancy was born in Sydney, Australia. Her dad was American. He came to Australia for a holiday and loved the country and its atmosphere so much he decided to stay. Her father was an assembly line worker in a plastic factory. Her mom was a nurse working in a Liverpool hospital. (Liverpool is a suburb of Sydney)
Nancy has a younger sister named Linda who is two years younger. Nancy and Linda were not only sisters but were like best friends who talk all the time and play together. She used to tell her sister her secrets, asking her about her opinion on different subjects.
Nancy’s parents are very conservative and religious. They go every Sunday to the church and read the Bible at home. Every time they have dinner they ask God to make them happy, healthy and forgive their sins. Overall, they are good parents; they are happy most of the time and love each other and their children very much.
Other than a casual work ethic that leads to job changes every four months or so, Nancy’s dad is a heavy smoker; he smokes over 20 cigarettes a day at times. He has been admitted to the hospital with chest pains, and the doctors have told him he needed to quit. He tried but returned to old habits after few weeks. His wife advised him to stop but he failed.
Nancy’s parents are not rich but middle class. They rented a house in Fairfield, a suburb of Sydney, with two bedrooms; Nancy shared her bedroom with her sister Linda.
Nancy was very attractive while growing up, she had long black hair, brown eyes, tan skin and curves in the right place. In summary, Nancy had a body a man could dream about.
Linda was completely different from Nancy. She had a wide face with curly, blonde hair and pale skin. She was very slim and taller than Nancy. She was not as attractive and tended to be on the more homely side.
Nancy was a very romantic girl; when she was 14 years old she used to dream about a hero riding in on a horse, picking her up and them running away together. She also believed she has to love the person she is going to marry before committing herself.
Linda was a very practical girl that wanted to be a doctor or a pharmacist. She wanted to be rich, wanted a big house and an expensive car, and believed love could come after marriage. Linda was interested in money more than love or romance. Linda used to argue with Nancy most of the time about marriage and love.
Linda believed her theory was the reason most people got divorced after their marriage even though they lived together as boyfriend and girlfriend for many years. In a sense she was right, as
the divorce ratio in Australia is higher than 55% in new marriages. Linda asked herself how a couple gains more problems after marriage, and where the love they used to have when they were boyfriend and girlfriend went?
Nancy was a very romantic girl. When she was 14 years old she used to read romance books and love stories. When Nancy was 15 years old she would look in the mirror and touch her body. She would then smile and whisper to herself that one day someone would deserve to have that body. Although Nancy was very pretty and sexy, she was never arrogant; she always had a smile on her face and a bubbly personality. Nancy’s parent told her to watch out for boys since she was young and in primary school and that no one is allowed to touch any part of her body, even girls. She was allowed to play and have fun but without touching any part of her body.
