The key jingled in Blake's hand. She was so nervous. This was her new apartment. Her hands trembled as she struggled to unlock the door. Her heart was pounding, throat in a knot. Her excitement almost tangible. Would she like it? Would it be what she had always wanted? Would London be a fresh start?
Her flight coming from Colorado had landed about 2 hours ago. She got off the plane, and then went to baggage claim!! They had lost her luggage, so she had nothing except for her purse which carried her phone, wallet, makeup, and important papers; and her carry on which had some personal items as well as a few books and notebooks and games. Then she ate lunch at Iggy's Rearview Pub, ordering a Mediterranean Salad. Then she got a cab for a ride to her apartment three blocks down.
She twisted the door, then pulled the key out of the lock. The door flung open and hit the wall with a crack. She walked through the archway. The carpet was a nice pattern of blue triangles, and red and gold obtrusive shapes. It smelled of mildew and melted Chocolatte.
It had an a old murky look to it as thought it had been around for many years. Blake snuck in through the door, leaving behind the hallway that smelled of cigarettes and maple syrup.
The door slammed shut, trapping in Blake. She set her purse down and walked herself to the glass sliding door to the balcony.
The glass door slid open with something that sounded like a Fwoosh! She walked briskly to the end of the balcony that stood high and she looked below.
The sun shone down on her. The ground below and elegant shade of royal green. The sun pierced her eyes. She had to put a hand to her face to shield them.
She looked at the surrounding area. She was lucky she got the back side, of the building. The front side had no balconies and only faced the busy and polluted streets of London.
But here. She got a beautiful view of the surrounding area. A beautiful sandy beach with a beautifully blue shimmering ocean crashing in the distance.
Ahh she couldn't have asked for a better place.
Now at this time there was a chilly breeze coming off the water so Blake decided to go back inside. She shut the glass sliding door and continued on to make her "house more homey.
She went into the bedroom and set up her books and and games on the shelf. She put her phone on the nightstand to charge, and put her purse on there as well.
She continued on to the bathroom to put her soaps and makeup and hygienic materials on the table.
Next she put some of her own personal items on the shelf in the living room. And then she sat down on the kitchen table. Ahhh, she sighed in. Everything was right.
Except for one thing.
