Chapter 3 (Thank God!)

Nico POV

Two updates in two days! Accomplishment!

The door opened to reveal a tall dark haired girl. She looked to be about my (mortal) age, 15. She had a cluster of light freckles on her face, just barely noticeable, and dark brown eyes. Familiar, dark brown eye. My head started to throb, like a memory was trying to force its way back into my head. The girl stared at me, like she was trying to pinpoint something. Will broke the silence by saying, "Hello I am Will Solace and this is Nico di Angelo!" I never got over how happy Will could be sometimes. The girl appeared uninterested. "Are the Boy Scouts selling cookies now", she asked.

Will cleared his throat, he clearly didn't catch on to the sarcasm (Note to self: Teach Will how to recognise sarcasm). "No, actually, they aren't -we are not Boy Scouts. Is your mortal-ow! I mean your parent home?" I jabbed him in the side to keep him from saying mortal parent. If this wasn't the girl- though I was 100% sure it was, she might think the word mortal might be strange.

The girl looked nervous, as if she didn't want to answer. But as soon as the look of worry appeared, it was gone. "Uh, yeah. Why?" Will looked as if he never intended the conversation to go this way, at which point I stepped in and said "Because we just wanna talk with whoever's in charge. Point blank." The girl looked startled at my abruptness, but I didn't care. I really wanted to get this over with so I could sleep. I'd just shadow traveled approximately 2,840.3 miles away from camp, so yeah, i was a little grumpy. "Uh, fine", the girl swung the door open all the way so we could step inside, and I realized that I didn't know the girls name.

"Hey, what's your name, by the way," "Theyna." The name sent another throb in my head. This time it was starting to bug me, like how you feel when you don't know why you feel like you need to remember something. "No last name," Will asked. To be honest, I'd forgotten he was there. Theyna's face suddenly hardened, like we had just gotten to a topic of conversation she didn't want to talk about.

"No, I don't know my last name, I'm a foster kid. My guardian is my foster mom. Amy" Theyna flinched as if she didn't want to say her name. "And speaking of which, I guess I will go and get her." Theyna walked away, a disturbed look on her face like she was imagining something horrible.

As soon as Theyna left the room, Will turned to me and said "Do you know her or something? You look like you remember her." "I don't know, my head throbs every few minutes, like I'm trying to remember something, but it refuses to pop up in my brain like something was holding it back" As soon as the words come out my mouth, I realized how crazy it sounded. I was quick to cover it up by saying "Maybe it's because I shadow traveled so far and haven't rested. Don't worry about it." Gods know what I would do if Will had a panic attack. Will looked like he was about to say something when there was a yelp from the other side of the trailer.

Will and I both jumped and I was about to pull out my sword when Theyna appeared in the doorway of the hallway. There were tiny beads of sweat on her forehead and I could have sworn there was a handprint mark on her cheek. But her long black hair covered it before I could make sure. "You okay," I asked her. She shook her head and said "Yeah everything is okay. Amy will be out in a few minutes."

As promised, a lady walked (more like waddled) out of the hallway. She had black hair and red eyes. Unnatural red eyes. She had on what I could only assume was a skirt with pants and an oversized shirt. The lady towered over the three of us, even Will, who was about 5'9. Which was pretty tall for a 15 year old (I was only 5'6 and I was older than Will, technically speaking of course. Will says this is avarage old man height). Anyway the lady, Amy I think is her name, waddled into the room. She sat down and focused her red eyes on me and Will. Then she said "What do you want. I was trying to take a nap." Then she looked at Theyna and said "What did I say about inviting strangers inside the house. They could be murderers for all you know. Don't they teach you that in school?" "I don't go to school and you know that", Theyna spit it out through clenched teeth.

"Hello Ms. Amy I am -" "Will Solace and Nico di Angelo. Yeah, I know who you are." Theyna looked at her "mom" wide eyed. "How do you know our names?" I asked. Being a demigod for so long, I knew when to keep my guard up. If Amy was a monster.... "Let's just say that I'm well informed." Amy smiled and began to change.
