The light was blinding; I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do. "You're up next kiddo." As I entered, I gazed at everyone in the grandstands. There were bright lights that lit the dark arena. I was the last one to go. It was time; it was finally time for me to live my dream-a dream I had been dreaming for a long time. My heart felt like it was about to come out to my chest and I could hardly breathe. I barely heard the announcer in the distance.
"Now we have #190, Faye Richards on Limitless."
I scanned the arena, all the jumps I had seen on the Internet numerous times, sat, waiting to be jumped. I looked down at Lisso; his powerful neck was arced at just the right angle. I asked him to pick up the canter and as I aimed him at the first jump, the course came back to me. The first jump seemed to grow larger as we approached; Lisso rocked back on his hocks and flew over the large brick wall. He felt like he could keep going all day. We jumped around the rest of the taunting course effortlessly. As we approached the last jump, an option jump (I was going to take the higher option), he felt great and I knew that we would get a fantastic score.
"One more jump boy, that's it," I whispered to Lisso. He started to take off but as his front feet left the ground, I could tell that he was not going to clear the 4' log. His front legs hit the top part of the log and I heard a sick crunching noise. The last thing I remembered before blacking out was seeing the ground rushing towards me.
