The girl on the phone sounds nervous.
'Hey...' she says. 'My name is Alex... I was calling about the, uh, roommate thing?'
I smile. 'Alright, cool. Can we meet here tomorrow? Around one?'
'Yeah, yeah, that sounds good.' she says. She sounds hopeful now. I think she might have been expecting an instant rejection, but I wonder why. She sounded apologetic, like she was sorry for wasting my time or something.
'Ok, I'll see you tomorrow then, Alex.' I say.
'Ok... goodnight.'
'Night.'
I set down the phone. I haven't really liked anyone who's applied for this yet, but I like the sound of this one.
