Toast's P.O.V

I started to tie Ghost to his chair, looking him in the eyes. He looked... relaxed? No, he was just really focused. Probably fighting Jimmy, his eyes were flashing between brown and crimson again. I actually started to feel bad. He had a real issue, maybe I was being a tad harsh...

His voice snapped me out of it, "Ow, aren't you tying it a little tight?" Ghost whined.

"You can't be too careful sir," I growled back. Just because I feel bad doesn't mean I need to go easy on him. But I did loosen the knots a bit.

"Now that that's done," Father said patiently, "Tell me, what triggers Jimmy?"

Ghost wiggled as if testing his binds. Seeming satisfied, he replied,"The sight of blood, I hate it, but he loves it..."

Father frowned and pulled out his pocket knife."Well if that's what it takes." I realized something. This was my chance to make things up to Ghost!

"Father, wait!" He looked at me, obviously puzzled. "I'll do it, I do need to toughen up," I tried to smile reassuringly. "Besides, you have an important case tomorrow!"

"If you're sure Johnny, just be careful!" Father warned as he reluctantly handed me the knife.

I took a deep breath and tried to prepare myself for what would happen.

Ghost's P.O.V

Toast was going to take the cut? Wow. I thought he hated me! I guess he finally realized what I was dealing with.

"Wish us luck sir, we're going to need it!" he said in mock cheer. Why was he calling me sir? He's older than me! I'll ask him later.

I watched as he made a small cut on the back of his hand. I felt my mouth twitch into a smile. Everything started... to go... black...

Jimmy's P.O.V

I tried to lunge at the men in front of me, then remembered that I was tied up. I ended up on my face, the chair on top of me.

"Hello Casket," the older one said calmly, "I've been wanting to talk to you."

"Rather polite to murderers, aren't ya?" I replied, imitating his stupid British accent. "Why do you want to talk to me?" I demanded in my normal voice.

The pipsqueak spoke up this time, "You need to leave Ghost alone!" He cares? Surprising, no one ever cares about Ghostie.

"Hey! That's mean!" Ugh, I didn't realize he was listening.

"I'd love to, but I can't!" I shouted in reply to the little Toaster, "I'm part of his stupid mind!" That was the truth, whether Ghostie believed it or not!

The old man just stared at me, thinking. "You believe me, don't you?" I fake whined, "It's the truth, you know."

"It's possible," he thought out loud, "Either you're right, or you don't remember attaching yourself to young Ghost."

This idiot..."I'm right!" I yelled, wiggling around, "If you can't untie me, at least stand the chair up..."

"Fine," little Toaster grunted, standing the chair up, "Better?" he asked rudely. I took the opportunity to kick him in the shin. Hard.

"Jimmy! Don't hurt him!"

"Oh, you care about him now?"

"I just don't like seeing people hurt..."

"Sure, Ghostie."

"Just... Stop..."

"Fine! You're no fun!"

"Perfect!" I laughed at his pained expression. "You said you needed to toughen up!" I continued to cackle insanely.

I carefully drew Knifey, but not carefully enough. I felt a sharp pain and everything went black.

Toast's P.O.V

"Father!" I cried out, "Why did you hit him?" Ghost... No, Jimmy, was knocked out on the ground. Why did I feel bad? He kicked me! But... It's not Ghost's fault...

Father saw my face and looked worried. "Son, I had to..." he trailed off, gesturing to the boy's hand.

"A-a knife? H-he was going to stab m-me?" I stuttered. He had seemed so trapped! Then I remembered... "I loosened the rope, while he was still Ghost..." This was my fault...

"It's okay Johnny, you couldn't have known," Father tried to comfort me. He was right, but still...

"We could've died..." I muttered looking at the unconscious Ghost, Jimmy, whoever he was... Maybe I did care... Maybe I could help him...

*A/N: Yeah, it's a bit shorter than usual... But I have a bit of writer's block, so I need suggestions! But I promised a chapter so you get a chapter! Hope you enjoyed!*
