It was as if an exit to this forest doesn't exist. After running for three hours I decided since I lost the hunters I might as well save my energy and started walking.
Trees. That's all that surrounded me for the past seven hours. I pity the human that ever got lost in here.
Night fell and the crickets were starting to be heard. I've been alone for over three hundred years now but I've never felt so alone as I am in this forest.
I let out a heavy sigh and began looking for the perfect tree to keep me hidden enough so I could get some rest for tomorrow because I won't stop until I finally leave this forest.
The crickets made their presence known. I had no problem with the dark because I could somewhat see even though it's pitch black but to know I'm being hunted didn't really put my nerves to ease.
I found what seemed like the tallest tree of where I was standing and leaped to the thickest branch it had. Settling myself against the tree as comfortably as I could I relaxed.
Taking out a packet of blood I sunk my fangs into the plastic. I moaned in appreciation as the delicious, smooth liquid slid down my throat. This should tame my hunger for a few hours.
Packets of blood are good but nothing beats getting blood straight from the source as it tames my hunger for weeks, even a month if I get enough.
I have to be careful with taking a month's worth of blood though because I could mistakenly kill my victim. That's where self control comes in. Some vampires lack such thing and just drains their victims dry without a second thought.
I wiped my mouth as I finished with the packet. Running my hand through my hair my fingers got knotted. I groaned and searched through my bag for my brush. I brushed the knots from my hair because the moon goddess knows if I leave them to settle I might as well get a hair cut.
My now knot free hair cascaded down my back in silver curls. I don't like to say gray because it makes me feel old, even though I technically am.
I braided my mid back length hair to the side and closed my eyes. I needed all the strength I could get for tomorrow. Turns out, I had no idea how true that was.

I heard screeching and the sound of fluttering wings. My eyes opened as I yawned and stretched. Birds flew out of their nests chirping as they went.
A fierce growl startled me out of my relaxed state. I held onto the branches of the tree I was situated in and stood up. I pared around the tree to see four large wolves sniffing around the floor of the forest.
One of them shifted into a bulky man. He stood there in all his male glory. The other wolves hadn't shifted yet and continued sniffing around the ground. I hadn't noticed the white paws that each wolf had until now.
Shit. There's only one group of wolves with white paws; royals. Oh, my god. I trespassed on the King's territory. I had to get out of here as fast as I could undetected.
"Keep scouting the area! It's scent is still here!", the man barked at the other wolves.
It just dawned on me that it's me they're looking for. They picked up my scent in a few hours so that means there's an exit to this forest somewhere nearby.
Seeing the trees from up here I got an idea. I'm going to leap from tree to tree since they weren't so far apart. By mistake, I knocked my bag with the packets of blood out of the tree.
I mentally cursed myself for my foolishness. The bag hit the ground with a thud making the wolves snap their heads to it. They quickly ran over to it sniffing it.
