I thought I would go ahead and upload the next chapter. Hope you all enjoy it.
Her brown eyes flashing behind a pair of wire framed glasses, Cheryl Fletcher paced back and forth in front of the hospital bed. She was small in stature with short strawberry blond hair. "I am so angry with him for not telling me about the attack sooner," she declared. "If I didn't love him, I would wring his neck."
Grace smiled at her aunt. "Uncle Reese meant well. Don't be so hard on him."
"I know he meant well, dear, but he should have told me the minute he found out." She stopped pacing and stood beside the bed. "I understand Matt Bolton is going to be your bodyguard."
"That's right." Grace tossed back the covers and slowly got out of bed. Once she was on her feet she massaged the small of her back. "Have you met Matt?"
"Of course," Cheryl replied. "Reese introduced us a few years ago. He's a nice man, not to mention good looking. I feel better knowing that he will be watching over you. I only wish you would move in with your uncle and me. I don't like the idea of you being alone in that house. It scares me. You could move in and I could help-"
"I won't be alone. When Matt's not with me there will be an officer stationed outside my house. I will be fine."
Just then, there was a knock at the door. The door opened and a nurse entered the room. "Alright, Grace," she said. "I have your release papers. After you sign them, the doctor will be into see you and then you can go home." She placed the papers and a pen on the tray table and slid the table closer to Grace.
Grace glanced over the papers and then signed and dated them. "Is it alright to get dressed?"
"Sure," the nurse said. "The doctor will be in shortly."
"Thank you," Grace said.
"You're welcome." She picked up the papers, pen, and then left.
"I brought you a change of clothes and your hairbrush." Cheryl snatched up an overnight bag from the chair near the bed, holding it out to her niece.
"I won't be long," Grace informed her, taking the bag from her.
"Take your time."
Grace went into the small bathroom that was connected to her room, shut the door, and dropped the bag onto the toilet seat lid. She opened the bag and removed a bra, sundress, a pair of flip flops, and a hairbrush. Slipping out of the hospital gown, she put on the bra and then the sage green dress. After sticking her feet in the flip flops, she ran the brush through her hair.
Emerging from the bathroom, she found Matt and Cheryl talking. "Is she complaining about Uncle Reese not telling her of my attack sooner."
Matt smiled. "Yes."
Grace sighed. "Aunt Cheryl, let it go."
Before Cheryl could respond the door opened and the doctor strolled into the room. "I see you're ready to go." He handed Grace several sheets of paper stapled together. "Those are your after care instructions. Read them and if you have any questions feel free to call me. I want to see you Wednesday at four o'clock to remove the stitches on your face. Do you have any questions?"
"Not at the moment," Grace uttered.
"Then I will let you go." He gave her arm a gentle squeeze. "I will see you Wednesday. Take care."
