Ten Years in the Future
Wills pov
The sun glared down on my neck. I swiftly pulled my left foot back and pushed off the mound.
"Strike!"
Then something happened something bad.
I couldn't see! Well I could see it was just very dark. Think of when your outside when its dark now take away the light of the moon. That's how dark it was. I looked up all I saw was stars. Wait...... Stars! Its the middle of the day. Just then I herd a scream it sounded like a girl that was terrified. At this point a lot of people were getting out their iPhone 18's and turning on their flashlight. But then I noticed it was starting to get cold. Not much colder just enough to notice. I ran to my mom she was trying to calm some girl.
"What is going on!?!?" I yelled to my mom.
"I don't know Will. I don't know"
We stumbled blindly to our hoover car and turned it on. I switched the radio on. I expected a song but there was a mans voice franticly saying something.
"I am a NASA astronomer and something is wrong with the planets orbit around the sun. We....... can't find the sun! It just vanished. I don't know what caused it or if you will ever see the sun again. I have a researcher here to tell you what the effects are for the sun's disappearance. "
"Hi, okay first the plants are going to die and then we will have a problem an oxygen problem. We have enough fossil files to make oxygen for every human for a year. And there is enough on earth to last a year. The bad thing is animals need it too. So the oxygen will last about a year total I'm sorry. I am also sorry to say we are going to run into the astroid belt it 6 months-"
Screams went up everywhere people crying and screaming.
"- But we believe if you can get to North America and South America you will survive. "
Then the message repeated it self. I listened to it three more times. I'm in eighth grade do I understood what they said we're all going to die.
I woke up to crying I looked over and my mom I'd at the kitchen table sobbing.
"Its fine mom I'm not afraid to die. "
"That's not it honey I'm afraid to die. "
"Why? We are going to heaven. We believe Jesus died on the cross for our sins. "
"I know honey but what about your father and sister. They aren't Christians. "
"Well we can go North America and get a lot of people to follow Jesus. "
"Okay we can try to get to America it's our only chance."
I ran to my room and looked around for anything that I would want to take.
Baseball cards? Yes
Drawing pad? Yes
Baseball bat? No
Baseball? Yes
Phone? Of course
Baseball glove? Yes
Clothes? Yes
Camera? Yes
Flashlight? DefiantlyAfter packing I slowly walked to my moms room. She was looking around her almost empty room. There was a lot we were leaving behind.
"How much money are we taking?"
"All of it,my bank accounts, stock, your college found."
"How much is that?"
"Enough to last us about ten months."
I frowned I thought we would have more. But I can get a job in North America. We both have one bag. My mom's is a suitcase and I have a backpack. We both walked to the front door I grabbed the handle.
"Are you ready" I asked
My mom nodded and I turned the handle. I instantly realized that we need batteries lots of them. It was pitch black the only light was from stars and it is 10:30 in the morning. We got in the car and drove to the airport. It was a quiet ride not a awkward one just a comfortable silence.
When we arrived at the airport we struggled through the crowd to the front desk.
"Two tickets for North America" says my mom.
"Sold out. "
"When is the next available flight?"
"Three days. "
We bought tickets and sat down to wait. I mostly just went to sleep during this time. And eating pizza.
------
Finally over the loud speakers a mans voice said.
"Flight 206 please board. "
And almost every person started running toward the plane. All I could do was just get pushed around by the crowd. I got pushed to the floor but I'm not stupid I instantly got up. I just ran with the crowd to the plane. But then I had a thought were is my mom?
I started to panic. Were is she called out to her but even u could barely hear my self. I just walked to the plane in tears. I just lost my mom. If she is not in her seat I'm staying at the airport. I ran to my seat my mom wasn't there. I started to run out of the plane. But an attendant stopped me an said you can't get out of the airplane unless you have a parent or guardian.
"But I can't find-"
"No exceptions"
So I walked back to my seat sobbing. I will never see my mom again. I sat in silence as I looked around the plane. There were way to many people on. Some people standing in the walk way and all the seats taken. Then the plane started to take off my stomach instantly flipped and my ears popped. It is an ten hour flight and its going to be terrible. First of all I don't have mom. Second of all its a hot plane with too many people. Lastly it is pitch black dark out side because the #%&$%$# sun vanished. This is a nightmare in real life.
--------
Only two more hours until I get off this hellish plane. It's so hot. But being hot is a small price to pay than to get crushed by asteroids.
