Sweat rolled down the young woman's face as she tried her hardest to birth a new soul into the world. Her pained yells and pants raged on for hours before that goal was met and she finally birthed out a crying boy, the newborns cries were soft, his small lungs not yet accustom to breathing the new air.

The new mothers panted as she regained her breath from the strained labour but she soon forgot about the pain she had just endured when the midwife told her that she had given birth to a son, sure he was a bastard son but he was a boy no less and that was something to celebrate.

"Is he healthy?" She  asked a smile appearing on her dainty features, a new feeling washed over her for the first time as the realization of her being a mother finally set in. It was excitement and happiness all mixed in with regret since her son's father would never know or even if he did he would never care about his bastard son which posed as problem for her since it meant that she would have to raise the boy all on her own.

"Yes would you like to hold him ma'am?" The midwife answered in a sweet voice, she loved seeing new life brought into the world even if that life was brought in by a whore.

"Please." The new mother said eagerly her smile hiding her exhaustion as her new child was handed over to her. As soon as the child was handed over to her the boy seemed to stop crying his eyes suddenly darting up to his mother's face. He seemed to know that the woman he was looking up at was the woman who birthed him.

She couldn't keep her eyes of the boy she held in her arms. Gently brushing the thin baby hair admiring him happily.

"Such a sweet face, he looks so much like him already." She whispered to herself still staring at the chubby face of her baby wondering what she should call him.

"Do you have a name picked out?"  The midwife asked the woman causing a blush to flush to her face, 9 months and she hadn't even picked out a name for either gender, how embarrassing. She quickly scrambled her mind for one though that actually sounded nice and wasn't too common. But before she could spit out an answer to what she had decided to name the boy noises were heard out side and someone entered her home to tell them that bandits had decided to attack Oakvale.....again, they seemed to do this every couple of weeks now. She didn't know why though Oakvale was such a small town and was only known for the farming community though maybe the attacks had to do with the fact that a farm boy turned hero would drop by every so often to check in on his home town.

"Again?! Those damned bandits, well  they certainly won't be too excited when our hero gets word of this." The midwife said in an annoyed tone as she stood up wondering what to do with her patient and the still unnamed child that the woman held in her arms. The bandits though they most likely wouldn't burn down the village this time they still were likely to murder some of the citizens and if they decided to raid the home they were currently in the new mother's struggle would be for nothing since they would just toss the child to the side killing him and do unspeakable things to her exhausted patient.

The new mother sighed shakily though the bandits attacked often it always frightened her, they were unpredictable and now she had another life to protect from the monstrous humans.

"We need to leave, I have an underground room that we can stay in until the bandits leave." The man that had entered told them and motioned for the woman with the baby to get up and follow him even though she was still tired from her labor.

All three of them left the house the new mother caring her unnamed child all the way as the man lead them around the main group of bandits that were shouting and laughing as they grabbed innocent people or ran off into homes only to return minutes later with gold and some expensive things that they could surely sell for more money.

"Ma'am should I carry your child for you?" The man leading them whispered to her when they midwife and them were all ducked behind a corner. She knew he must have offered because of how slow she moved and that she was trying to hush the baby who wouldn't stay quite now due to all the commotion going on around him. She quickly looked down at her son and than back at the man, his eyes were trustworthy so she handed her child to him which he took and tried to wrap the loose blanket tighter around the wiggling child before continuing to lead them to his home which was only two houses away. But two houses seemed so far when you had just given birth and there were bandits yelling all around.

"Thank you." she said softly as she followed closely behind the man holding her child and the midwife that had helped deliver that child. He only nodded in response and hurried to the next corner that the bandits wouldn't see them in and she was about to do the same when a bandit grabbed her arm and laughed making her glad that she had handed off her baby before this happened. The midwife and the man noticed that she had been stopped and quickly looked back seeing her caught in the grasp of a grimy bandit. The man locked eyes with the mother who looked scared but there was nothing he could do. He had tried and she got caught, he was no hero he wouldn't rush out there and fight off a bandit the most he could do was keep her child if the bandits didn't spare her life.

He glanced at the midwife who also seemed to be thinking the same thing which was sadly "leave her." Which was exactly what they did even though they weren't proud of it. But it saved their lives and the child's so at least they saved one life.

//Next chapter should be a few years later. Forewarning though I will not be calling him "Reaver" until the oakvale tragedy because the game implied that he had changed his name to Reaver only after that.//

//Also I have no idea when I will get the next chapter done I am a horrible procrastinator.//
