"Hey Angela!" Angela's best friend, Jack Morrison, called out.

"Jack, hey!" She replied, giving a little wave.

"What're you up to?" He slowed to a stop in front of her, grinning.

"I'm heading out to recess, come on!" She grabbed Jack's hand, pulling him along with her and towards the swings.

As Jack and Angela sat on the swings, she let her eyes wander.

"Hey! Give that back," Angela heard a voice yell out. They sounded upset.

She focused in on a group of kids surrounding one of her classmates.

Gabriel Reyes.

"And what are you going to do about that, Gabe? Are you gonna tell your mommy? I'm so scared." The bigger person, holding what looked like a book.

Angela jumped off the swing and walked towards them as Gabriel threw a punch at the older kid.

The bigger kid pushed Gabriel down as another kicked him in the head.

"Hey, what're you doing?! Stop that," yelled Angela, sprinting towards the group.

She stood in front of the bigger guy, her arms spread so she was shielding Gabriel.

"Aw, got your little protecter to save you? How sweet," He cackled, giving Angela a light shove before the group walked away, chuckling.

"Are you okay?" Asked Angela, leaning down and holding out a hand for the boy.

"I didn't need your help," he grunted, pushing himself off of the ground and sauntering away.

She glanced over at the closest teacher as they were turning away.

'When I'm older, I'll help people. I'll protect them.' She thought with a smile on her face, skipping back to Jack.
