It was Mid-August and I was folding my clothes into my suitcase. My room was empty with only the paint barley on the walls. The room was as it always was, cold and gray. Nothing, seemed to fit in over in my soon to-be old high school apartment room. I'll miss the creaking in the floor board when I walked down the hallway. I'll miss the silence of my room, except the rain. The rain made me feel good . I loved it when it rain at night. I would fall to sleep easier. I would love hearing the rain drip and drop on all the buildings roofs. My only wish was for someone to truly love me. To love mostly, the rain.  I never knew my parents. They died, when I was 4 years old, in a fire caused by a small candle flame. When I think back at that time, I wish I would have said I love you. Maybe they would have said it back. So, I could feel less pain.

My Aunt Nika, raised me. She was my mother's sister. She always told me about mother. How graceful and energetic she was.
" Just like a dandelion." She would always say.
She would always fly into the meadow field and dance along with all the flowers in the wind. I so wish I knew her. I don't even remember what she looks like. I don't even remember ever seeing her.

I look around my room.
" It's empty," I thought " but I've decided."
I heard a knock on my apartment door.
" Aunt Nika." I hesitated.
I slowly walked to my door. Through the halls, through the kitchen, and through the small, sad living room.
I take a deep breath, and open the door.
There stood Aunt Nika.
She was dressed in a long white dress with a black short jacket on. She raised her head and looked at me.
She didn't think I could live on my own somewhere else in the world. Especially Alaska. She stared at me with her big, rich brown eyes. Her hair was tied up in a tight messy bun.
Her face turned red and she started tearing up. A tear drop fell from her eye, rolling down her cheek. I couldn't help it, but I teared up as well. My eyes filled with water I didn't want to let loose. Sobbing makes me feel weak, and useless.
Aunt Nika jerked her mouth open and said " Oh, baby. I'll miss you." The water from her poured down her face like someone spilled water all over her.
" I'll miss you, too." I said, then I hugged her, tight. Her hugs were always warm and safe to me. I felt.. at home. I will miss her so much
She let go and wiped her tears from her cheeks. She laughed a little at the idea of me moving away, but it's for the best. I need to get out of town, for good.
" You.." Aunt Nika tried to say" You better get to your plane, before it leaves you.."

"Yeah.." I sniffed and smiled.
Aunt Nika smiled back, but still had some tears clogging up her eyes.
" I'll.. I'll help you with your bags." Aunt Nika offered.

" Ok.." I said and turned around. Right at that turn, my tears just came flowing down faster on my cheeks. Like a bunch of waves falling down a waterfall, gracefully.
I walk to my room again. I grab my big, stiff black suit case and carry to the front door. Aunt Nika carries the other one, the small, thin one. We go down two flights of stairs to the front desk. A man with blue eyes is waiting.
" I need to check out of my room. For good." I say.
" Ok. Name and room number?" The man asked with a small,  tight tone.
" Gracelynn, room 28." I hesitated.
The man with blue eyes shook his head and said " Ok, you're good to go."
Me and Aunt Nika walk out the door to my car. We put both suit cases in the backseat of my car. I turned and looked at her. Her face was red. Her eyes were filling up with a bunch of water droplets, ready to burst. Just looking at her face, I wondered if moving would be a mistake. I didn't like the town, I wanted to try new things. Go to different places and I think Aunt Nika accepted that.
Aunt Nika broke down crying. Her head jerked down, covering her face with her hands. I gave her tight hug. In her ear, I whispered " I love you."
More tears came down even more on her face.
" I love you too, sweetie." Aunt Nika said.
She sounded disappointed. She knew this is what I want to do, I'm old enough to decide. That's what I did.
She let go and opened her mouth, but then stopped before she could speak.
She finally had the bravery and courage, so she said " Well, you better get to your flight, dear."
" Yea, I'll call you when I land." I sniffed and one last tear flowed down.
I get in the car, and start it.
Aunt Nika stares at me and says" Bye, Gracelynn."
I stopped and stared at my radio.
I was guilty.
" I'm doing something wrong." I said to myself.
I look up at Aunt Nika.
" Bye.." I say for the last time.
I drove off.

The airport was packed. Everybody was moving their bags everywhere. Just moving or traveling. I don't know who was having a vacation or not, but everyone had somewhere to be.
I have to get on flight B180 to Alaska.
Once I'm on the plane, I'll listen to music or look out the little windows the plane has.
It's nice up here, in the air. It's kinda like leaving all my problems back.
It felt good.
I'll miss Aunt Nika; but I think this will good for me.
" I know this will be good. I just know." I thought to myself.
I don't need to worry, I'm ok.
It'll be alright.
