His voice was soft as I saw him across the street. Vasilis turned around and his eyes locked with mine. He was taken aback, shocked. Why? He'd never met me before. I was just another fangirl on a screen.

"Sierra!" Vas called. Did he remember me? Did he know me? I couldn't believe it. He started walking toward me and my heart quickened with every step. Finally, he reached me.

"You know who I am?" I ask.

"How could I forget the pretty fangirl that I'm apparently married to?" Vas chuckled. My cheeks burned red.

"So..." I start, but Vas cuts me off.

"Want to grab some coffee? I'd like to get to know my wife." He says. I accept, and off we go, trotting down the street to Tim Hortons.

---

After ordering, we take our seats awkwardly.

"So how's your dog?" I ask. Vas grins, causing his dimples pop and my heart to race once again. He runs his hand through his hair and my breath catches.

"He's good. Very fluffy, he sheds a whole lot." We both let out a small laugh, then fall silent as we lock our gazes.

"Uh...um," Vas stumbles. "so how's your coffee, I guess..." I shrug as I realize I already drank it all.

"It's... empty," I reply. Vas tells me that his is, too, so we leave and start to walk in the crisp Canadian air.

"So why are you in Ontario?" Vas asks. "I'm not complaining or anything just asking."

"My family is just on vacation," I tell him. "My mom went to take photos, though, and my brother and dad went fishing. They told me to behave and left me in the hotel room, so I went exploring. Then, I saw you." We stopped in our tracks, right by the lake. The wind was blowing softly and no one was in sight.

"And I'm glad," Vas said in a low, gentle tone. I felt his hand slip into mine and my skin jumped. We continued to walk, me leaning on his shoulder.

---

Vas walked me back to my hotel after we had been walking and talking for about an hour.

I slipped back into my room, showered, and plopped myself onto the bed to watch a movie. But, my family interrupted and came in.

"So what'd you do?" my dad inquires. I shrug.

"Explored. Made a friend. Grabbed some coffee. Went for a walk. No big deal." I yawn. My mom started to grin.

"A friend?" she gasped. "Whats's her name? When can we meet her?" My spine turned ice cold. I forgot that my mom hates when I talked to guys she didn't know. This was going to be fun.

"Actually," I start, "the friend is a guy." Her jaw dropped, my dad didn't flinch, and my brother started to laugh.

"He's 14," I continue. It's a little bit better now since I'm turning 14 soon.

"Can we meet him?" my mom wonders. I nod and tell her I'll call him tomorrow.

---

At noon the next day, Vas knocked on our door, eager to meet my family. I quickly pull him outside for a quick chat.

"Hey, Vas, my family might seem a little... crazy and scary. It's all good, though." And with that spoken, we walk in.

"Hello, I'm Vasilis." He shakes hands with my family, grinning. My mom's eyes widen with delight.

"Can we go now?" I whine. This is getting awkward already. My mom sighs and nods, letting me and Vas venture out together again.

"Where to?" I ask, but Vas grabs my hand without saying a word. He drags me to a secluded beach that's absolutely stunning.

"Where ARE we?" I say. Vas looks over at me and smirks.

"A beach, duh." Vas spins to his left to reveal a picnic, complete with a woven wood basket and a red checkered cloth.

"Oh my gosh!" I exclaim. "You set this up? For me?" Vas nods and sits down, me beside him. We start to snack on small sandwiches and grapes.

---

An hour later, after eating and talking, my head is laying is Vas' lap and he's playing with my hair.

"We should go swimming in the lake." I looked up to see him grinning after his oh-so-funny statement.

"Are you crazy?" I giggle. "That water is extremely cold!" He shrugs, gets up, and removes his coat. Then he runs and jumps into the water.

I roll my eyes and follow him. As my skin comes in contact with the water, I go numb.

"It's freezing!" I shriek at Vas. "What were you thinking?" Vas swims over and wraps his arms around me.

"That I could keep you warm," he whispers in my ear. I looked into his blue-green eyes and he looked back.

The next thing I knew, Vas kissed me. His hands held tightly at my waist and I felt safe with him, even in the frigid waters of Canada on our secret beach.
