"Mama!"
"Look what I found!", yelled a little girl as she held up a delicate yellow daisy. Her hair was tangled and had mud clinging to her skin. The sun was harshly beating down on the mother and daughter pair, both dressed in filthy brown rags. Despite these facts, they both had bright smiles on their faces, similar to the others children playing hide and seek in the tall willow grass.
"That's beautiful honey, next time don't pick the flower though, you wouldn't want someone to take you from your home would you," her mother playfully scolded her. The girl's eyes widened and she hurriedly tried to place the flower back into the ground.
"I'm sorry Mr. Flower", the girl whispered, tears pooling up in her eyes.
"It's alright sweetie, but make sure not to do it again", said her Mother, who was trying not to laugh out loud. Suddenly out of nowhere, the ground started trembling with such intense power where the so thought sturdy wooden houses started shaking like they were made of straw.
'WOOOOOOSH'
A loud whirring noise came from out of the sky. Abruptly, from behind the clouds, appeared a large, metallic machine, whose blades forced sand and dirt to fly everywhere.
"What's that Mama? I wanna fly on that Mama," whispered the girl, eyes shining with gleam. Not noticing her mother answering, she looked up to see a petrifying sight. From head to toe, her mother was quivering with fear with her mouth agape, streaks of tears flew towards her ear as the wind pushed it.
"No. No. Not again! NO!", her mother wailed. Around them was chaos as sounds of screams and yells echo around her, but she didn't notice. The vast chunk of metal looming above them captivated her attention, wondering why this seemingly mesmerizing object was making her precious mother cry. Fury overcame her and she stomped up to the landing ship.
"COME DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW AND APOLOGIZE TO MY MOMMY!" the girl shrieked. The ship landed and for a large metallic door opened up. An army of intimidating soldiers appeared, but the girl ran right up to them, not a hint of fear evident on her face.
"LISTEN HERE YO-" suddenly she was pulled back into warm arms as her mother apologized over and over.
"I'm sorry, my careless child is being stupid, she doesn't know any better, please forgive us," her mother pleaded. Emotionless, the man that the little girl yelled at lifted his arms to reveal a set of glistening guns.
"No! Please, I beg of you, spare my child, I take responsibility for her insolence!"
"Fine your choice," said a haunting voice that would send chills down anyone's spine.
'BANG'
The one person she cherished the most fell back with the impact of the bullet. The girl hastily tried to catch her falling Mother, and laid her gently to the ground.
"Underneath the seventh tile in the k-kitchen floor, there are the l-letter tha-"
She was interrupted by bouts of coughing, with more and more blood in every gasp, her mom weakly continued.
"your father l-left for you to read. He never d-died, he ran away to the l-land of the unknown. Open it when you are eighteen. I love you Alic-," her Mother managed to choke out, before her head dropped to the side. For a few moments, the girl thought her mother was sleeping. Her usually smiling face seemed so at peace, underneath the grime.
Then the silence grew, louder and louder.
It was the most terrifying sound that she had ever heard.
"MAMA!" the girl wailed.
Soon they left, taking with them the corpse of those they had killed, the smell of death filled the once peaceful air, as the petals from the dying delicate flower dropped.
one by one.
