The time flew by that night during the large dinner party. Edward had carved an amazing ice sculpture for the dessert bar and he chopped all of the fruits into shapes. The guests were so pleased and it seemed unfair that Edward had to hide and was unable to hear their positive comments. One of the wealthiest guests even booked an entire wedding catering event just because of his handiwork.

Jim was very impressed with the popularity Edward's creations had brought to the Mirage. The customers were flowing in record numbers. There was a huge demand for his creative food arrangements and artistic talents. Jim, being a sort of greedy man who lusted after all the finer things in life, was willing to take extreme measures to protect Edward from being a suspect in the recent murders, in order to continue gaining the wealth he was bringing in. The other employees of the Mirage simply adored Edward because he was honest and kind.

Kim grabbed a stack of cloth napkins from the shelf in the dry storage room and stacked them on her tray.

"Are you happy working here?" Kim asked without even needing to look behind her. She could feel Edwards quiet, familiar presence when he was near her.

"Yes," he answered quietly, gazing at her in awe.

She turned to him and gave him a shy smile. "You know, we missed you... a lot actually..." Kim's voiced trailed off and they were interrupted by a shrilling scream.

Kim's face grew serious and she pushed past Edward and headed up the stairs. Another agonizing scream filled her ears.

Kim reached the kitchen to see the cook, Wendy, cowering in the corner of the room.

"What happened?" Kim asked running to Wendy, but stopping before she could get to her because of the pool of blood on the floor.

Kim's eyes followed the blood until a body came in to view. The former prep-cooks body lay directly across the kitchen in the prep-room doorway, her brunette hair was soaking in the fresh blood.

"The killer went that way!" Wendy screamed, pointing towards the prep-room which opened to a loading doc with a back door leading to the outside. "I saw the killer cut her throat and take off out the back door!" Wendy sobbed.

A full police investigation was underway and the Mirage servers were re-positioned in other restaurants in the Casino while everything was cleaned up. A couple weeks had passed and Kim hadn't seen Edward, as Jim was keeping him safe from being a target of the investigation. Kim knew Edward was innocent, not only because of his gentle character, but because she had been talking to him in the basement when the murder took place, and the murder was witnessed by the cook Wendy. Wendy did not see the killers face, but she saw the prep-cook's throat get slit with a large knife like object, which was left on the ground- it was one of Edwards severed hand blades. Each murder thus far had been carried out using one of Edwards blades.  Kim shivered at the thought of dying in such a gruesome way.
