60 seconds. Maybe even less, was all it took to take a life. You see many sorts of crimes, and blood spill, or vicious murders all over the news right? But the last thing you would ever expect is for something to happen to you. And even in your most vulnerable state, you never expect the unexpected. And when it comes... There's nothing for you to do.

It was raining. It seemed as though these things have a tendency to happen to me, and especially at the worst moments. Of course I had to walk home on the absolute worst day of our rainy season. My clothes had clung uncomfortably tight to my body, and I felt like an enlarged sponge, as I soaked up even more rain water. I jumped slightly, as a loud, unexpected noise, combined with unnecessary vibrating coming from the bag I had been holding for books and paperwork I needed for school. I shifted my weight as I lifted my phone out of the no longer dry book bag and answered it out of instinct.

"Avery! Guess who smiled at me earlier?!" A good friend of mine, Misty, squealed from the other end.

"Who?" I asked, slightly irritated.

"Ashton. Effing. Divert." She screeched.

"Misty, it's literally pissing rain outside right now. Can you just tell me when I get home?" I asked, not in the mood to hear all about her guy drama.

"Um," She hesitated to respond. "Yeah, I guess?"

"K." I replied flatly and hung up.

Kicking pebbles out of the way from time to time, I continued a long walk home. The rain only seemed to pour harder, and it didn't take long before everything began to slightly fog up. I sighed, almost dragging my feet now. I frowned as an odd feeling crept it's way errily into my stomach. I could almost feel something's gaze on my back, causing me to halt and stiffen.

I felt like I was being swallowed whole by the fog, I frowned as I couldn't see 15 feet ahead of me. I felt a large pair of hands latch onto my shoulders, and within seconds I was on the ground.

"What the hell!?" I yelled. Now, not only was I completely soaked, but muddy as well. Caught up in my own anger, I looked around frantically, desperately searching for the person who had shoved me in the first place. Goose bumps immediately spread across my skin as I felt an undeniably sharp pain rip through my side. I looked down, wide eyed, only to see blood pouring out of a freshly made wound right above my hip. Tears pricked at my eyes, as  the blood began to puddle around me.

"Wha-"

I was interrupted by a rough hit to the back of my neck, and everything seemed to fade.

I woke up in a small concrete room, my vision blurred, and an unbearable pain lacing through my side. Managing to my knees, I took an over extended look at my surroundings. It seemed as though I were in a box, due to the fact that there were no windows, let alone doors.

I opened my mouth, my voice coming out as a painful croak escaped my lips. "Help... Hel-" I could barely continue, as my throat burned. It felt as if acid had dried in my throat and was slowly burning away the skin from the inside out. Maybe that was slightly exaggerated.

Taking another quick look around, I noticed a tiny black camera in the top right corner of the room. I felt a warm drop hit, and slip down the back of my hand. I hadn't even noticed I was crying, until hot streams of tears had begun to slide past my cheeks, down my neck.

Looking into the camera pleadingly, I barely managed an almost inaudible "Why?"

A/N

ALRIGHT. So, I came back and edited literally this entire chapter. Barely anything is the same. Anyways! I'm going to be updating soon. Hopefully I can develop some sort of updating plan, because the last time I updated was over a year ago... Haha.. Sorry about that, loves. Anyways, 1k?! REALLY? That one chapter freaking sucked before I came back and re-did it all. Anyways, I hope most of you get the chance to re-read all of this and hopefully most of you haven't already left because of how sucky it was. Anyways, updating soon! Remember to smile, because it's beautiful and the world deserves to see it. Xoxo, Jay.
