You shudder in disgust when you see a rat run across the stained floors of the cell you've been in for the last 12 hours. You sit, with your knees drawn to your chest, on the stale bunk bed full of mold and curse loudly, probably for the 20th time in the last 5 minutes. Suddenly a head peers down at you from the edge of the bed above you.

"Will you shut up already, it's not even that bad" The man, who got you in that cell in the first place, says calmly, grinning without any worry on his face.

Without a pause you promptly flip him off

You're walking home on a Friday night, around 11pm, having just finished your shift at your part time work. You yawn and stretch lazily, leisurely walking through the Main Street.

You decide last second to take a shortcut to get back to your apartment, not wanting to waste anymore time. Turning into one of the lesser known alleyways, you pick up your pace, pulling your black hoodie closer to your face.

Better safe than sorry

A couple of meters away you see a man, also in a black hoodie, shake a can of spray paint, and continue painting his mural. Under the dim light of the streetlamp, your mouth drops at the intricately detailed design that now covers the, otherwise dull, wall. At least, the parts of it that were visible to you, from where you standing.

Whoa... your thoughts go blank as you study each color, each stroke, and each pattern; completely mesmerized by the man's graceful movement. You study him carefully, noting his expensive headphones, bandana around his head, the paint splattered hoodie, tastefully ripped jeans and his black creeper pumas.

Unfortunately, he was wearing a mask because of the fumes.

Strangely enough he, despite his actions, didn't feel like the other sleazy men who spent majority of their time vandalizing this part of town for the sake of ruining things. Instead, it seemed like he was an artist conveying his feelings.

You wonder why you aren't moving away, then see him signing his work with a flourish. "V" you mouth silently, questioning what it meant.

"Take a picture, it lasts longer" you hear him say in a smug tone. Whipping your head back at the man you freeze at being caught watching.

"Uh... I was just... this is a shortcut and uhm... I'll just leave now." You say awkwardly.

The man laughs and walks toward you making you back up slightly.

"Look I don't want any trouble" you feebly say. He stops, laughs even harder and looks at you like you were stupid.

"I don't bite" he says simply "...unless you ask" he adds on smoothly and quickly turns back towards his work, missing your jaw drop.

"Come here, you can see my work better from where I am" He shouts.

Any saner and smarter person would've turned around and bolted out of there as quickly as possible; but let's face it. You were neither the smartest, nor the most rational person, so you slowly approach him. The pepper spray lying comfortably in your pocket having nothing to do with your decision. Nothing at all.
