Taehyung had never payed much attention to the smaller boy sitting towards the front of his class.
But that changed when Jungkook went from model student with good grades and clean reports to the bad boy of the school who slacked off and spent so much time in detention there was a seat reserved for him. One day he was wearing cute shorts and a t-shirt, and the next he walked through the door wearing tight leather pants and ripped tank top.
Nobody knew where the 'change' had come from and nobody dared to ask. His friends had all left him, scared off by his cold attitude. Taehyung had tried to speak to him many times but his cheery self was always shut down by Jungkook's seriousness. It never stopped him from trying though.

The bell rang as the last few stragglers hurried through the door and took their seats. The lesson started and the drony voice of the teacher filled the room. It was Friday, fifth period history so nobody was paying attention; they were already counting down the minutes until they could leave.
A few minutes into the lesson, the door opened and Jungkook strolled in, his heavy boots making a loud noise with every step. He made his way to his seat slowly and slung his bag down on the floor. As he was sitting down, the teacher spoke up.
"And where have you been? Class started five minutes ago."
Everyone was silent as they watched Jungkook looked up with an unimpressed expression. He twisted in his seat and looked around the classroom as if searching for something. When his eyes caught Taehyung's, he winked. When he turned back to the teacher, Taehyung's cheeks were already on fire.
"You're talking to me?" Jungkook drawled. Taehyung held his breath. The way he spoke, it was so... dangerous. He found it addicting.
"Yes, Jungkook, I'm talking to you. Everyone else here has enough intelligence to turn up on time."
From where he was sitting, Taehyung could see Jungkook clench and unclench his hands.
"I don't like it when people insult me." Taehyung could practically see the fire in his eyes.
"Well, I don't particularly like it when students don't turn up to class on time." The teacher replied. "I suggest next time you get here before the bell or you'll find yourself in detention. Again."
The teacher carried on with the lesson before Jungkook could reply. Anyone could tell he was annoyed. When the teacher turned to write something on the board, Jungkook reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, typing in his password and tapping quickly at the screen like he was texting someone. Finished, he slid the phone back into his pocket, crossed his arms and leant back in his chair, propping his feet up on the table. The teacher said nothing.
About ten minutes before the end of the lesson, a loud ping sound came from Jungkook's direction. He quickly fished out his phone and stared at the screen. His body completely froze.
"Jungkook for the last time, put your phone away." The teacher ordered but he wasn't listening. Before he could even finish his sentence, Jungkook was already out of his seat and storming towards the door. When he rushed past Taehyung, he was sure he could see tears welling up in his eyes.
"Jeon Jungkook! Get back here this instant!" The teacher yelled but there was no point.
He was already gone.
