For the next week, Jungkook was quiet. There were no fights, no arguments, nothing. He'd just sit at his desk staring into space. Taehyung noticed that he'd check his phone a lot, looking more and more distressed every time he did. Sometimes, he'd even see him wipe away a tear.
Taehyung was walking through the crowded corridor to get to class when someone bumped into him with turning a corner. Like he was in a cliche romantic film, he stumbled and fell, crying out in the process.
"Hey! Watch where you're-" Taehyung heard the other person say. He looked up to see none other than Jungkook staring down at him. "I-I'm sorry." Jungkook crouched down to help Taehyung to his feet. "I wasn't looking where I was going, I'm sorry."
Before he could reply, Jungkook had already sped off down the corridor. Where's he going in such a rush?
Some part of him knew he had class to go to but something about Jungkook made him compelled to follow him. So he did.
Pushing against the flow of students, he watched Jungkook turn the corner and enter the janitor's closet. Taehyung frowned. Why would he go in there?
He made his way over and pressed his ear to the door. He felt guilty about doing it but he wanted to know if something was wrong. Taehyung gasped when he heard the sound of crying come from inside. For some reason, it broke his heart to think that he was upset and all alone.
After taking a deep breath, he opened the door and saw Jungkook look up in shock. His eyes were red and puffy. He hurriedly wiped away his tears, standing up and frowning.
"What are you doing here?" It was surprising how quickly he could put back his bad boy attitude.
"I could ask you the same thing." Taehyung replied, shutting the door and standing in front of it, arms crossed. Jungkook scoffed.
"Move." He commanded, standing face to face with the older boy.
"No."
"I said move."
"No."
"Get out of the way!"
"Not gonna happen."
"Why won't anyone just listen to me!" Jungkook screamed, making Taehyung flinch. "Just get out of the way and stop being such a jerk!"
Tears fell down his face that he wiped away angrily. Taehyung hated that he looked so broken. He wanted to fix him.
"Tell me."
Jungkook froze at those words and looked up, "What?"
"Tell me what's hurting you so much." Taehyung spoke calmly.
Jungkook wiped away his tears, "I'm not going to tell you anything. Just let me past."
"Why were you crying?" Taehyung asked, stepping closer. Jungkook took a step back.
"Go away." Another step.
"Tell me." Another.
"No." One more.
"Please." Another step and Jungkook's back was up against the wall.
"Why do you even care?! Nobody else does!" The tears were brimming up in his eyes again.
Taehyung took a deep breath, "I do care. You're a good person, Jungkook, a beautiful person. I don't know what's making you act so cold but I don't believe that's truly you. I don't. No matter how much you scream and shout at me to leave, I'm not going to. I want to stay by your side and stop you from looking so broken. I want to heal your scars. I want to make you feel better. I want to be that person." He looked deep into Jungkook's wide eyes. "Let me be that person."
