•CHARA's POV•

The air inside Chara's bedroom was buzzing with silence; and it was driving them insane. All Chara wanted was to be a normal kid, one who could get a better full night's rest without being attacked by their own mind.

Eventually, Chara couldn't take it anymore, they had to do something other than sit in the dark. They knew from experience that their inner demons were too powerful for them to be alone with their thoughts for too long. So, slowly, Chara slipped out from under the covers and crept across the dark bedroom; careful not to wake Frisk. Opening the door just a crack, Chara stepped into the hallway and went downstairs.

•SANS' POV

Sans trudged through the empty living room, into the kitchen. He knew that at this hour of the night, fluorescent lights like the ones in the kitchen would be way too overwhelming; so he decided it would be better just to leave them off.

He shuffled over to the sink and turned on the faucet, filling up a cup of water. It was almost a peaceful silence, a nice place for the skeleton to clear his head and think for a bit; that is, until a slight creaking noise was heard from behind him.

Turning around, Sans' eyes meet the glinting red ones that were peeking through the small crack in the door. His breath caught in his throat slightly and the room suddenly became thick with tension.

The strange thing was that Chara's eyes, normally so filled with cold glares and sarcastic glints, looked almost... solemn... but only for a moment. Before they hardened back to their usual look of superiority and anger.

"I'll go..." Chara mumbled, turning her head to walk away.

"Wait!" Sans called, not exactly sure what he was doing, "What... uh... what are you doing up?"

Chara faltered a bit in their attempt at leaving, they opened the door a little more to lean against the frame. "Nothing... at least not anything that you'd need to know about." They replied coldly.

Sans' expression hardened, "If that "nothing" you're doing, has anything to do with the knives in this kitchen, than you can bet it IS something I need to know about."

Chara practically shook with anger, "Well it doesn't, is it really so hard to believe that I might just want a drink if water? After all, you've got enough for both of us in that glass." They smirked, pointing to the glass in Sans' hand.

Realizing that he still had yet to turn off the faucet that was still working to fill the overflowing glass; Sans quickly turned it off. He poured out some so that the glass was just over halfway full and shoved it in Chara's hands.

"There, you got what you came here for, so just go back to bed."

"Fine, sweet dreams~" Chara said, their voice dripping with fake sweetness.

And with that, the dark kitchen settled once again into a silence, only this time it wasn't all that peaceful.

"I will never understand that demon..." Sans thought to himself as he went back to bed.

I'm sooooo sorry for taking so long!
When I got back I had a ton of makeup work to do that basically lasted two weeks, and then I started procrastinating.
Imma try to put up a second chapter this week to make up for my laziness.
