After spending a night in the luxurious yellowed socks, Dobby knew what he was going to do. He was going to win Harry Potter's heart. Like Sorting Hat said, they would live a long time. He had time to date Sorting Hat later. Harry Potter was going to die sooner than later. Dobby had to get his heart now before it was too late.

As Dobby shirked his duties, he felt a rush of adrenaline. If Dobby did that at his old master's house, he would get punished severely. Now, he would only get scolded by the other house elves. Dobby watched from behind a column as the students walked past. When he saw Harry Potter, his heart fluttered in his chest, but Dobby suppressed the green blush coming to his cheeks. He was only there for one person, and that person had Harry Potter's heart.

Cho Chang was in the center of a group of girls. Of course she was. Jealousy churned his stomach. How could Harry Potter love her? She did nothing for him. Dobby had done everything for Harry Potter. It would have to be in front of her friends. She'd be so embarrassed, she would say no to Harry Potter. Then, Dobby could swoop in and make Harry Potter see the real him.

Dobby snapped his fingers and heard a shriek. As she turned around, Dobby saw that warts had covered her face. He giggled to himself as she blamed one of her friends. She stormed off to the hospital wing. Dobby locked the door and snuck around to find Harry Potter. He was in the hospital wing at the same time, probably from a Quidditch incident.

When Harry Potter saw Cho, he did a double-take. "Cho? What happened to you?" She burst into tears and walked over to Madame Pomfrey. Dobby giggled and apperated back to the kitchen. The other elves were waiting for him, arms crossed.

"Where have you been?" Winky stumbled around, reaching her hand out to grab Dobby.

Another house elf started crying. "Dobby, we got the test results back." Dobby looked between the two.

"What test results?" Dobby asked, his high-pitched voice wavering.

"You have a deadly disease!"

Dobby gasped. "How could that be? It's not like every other dramatic romance story has a main character that is going to die!"

They gave each other a look. "You'll be dead in three years time." Dobby sobbed. How was he going to get Harry Potter to love him? How was he going to love Sorting Hat? They didn't have much time. Suddenly, the prank Dobby played on Cho seemed dangerous and childish. Why waste his time doing silly things when he had to straighten things out?

"Is there any medication?" Dobby asked half-heartedly, knowing the answer already.

Winky smashed an empty bottle on the counter and took a swig from another one. "You know there's no cure for house elves! You live, you die, and you hope you have kids in that time to serve your family!" Dobby grit his teeth. He wished Winky wouldn't drink as much.

"I have to tell them," Dobby whispered to himself.

"Who do you have to tell, Dobby? No one loves you!" He heard the crash of a bottle, followed wi wetness across his back. He ran from the kitchen and to the place he needed most.

The door boomed as it shut and left it in an eerie silence. The office was decorated pink, but he ignored it and walked along the shelves until he got to who he was looking for. "Sorting Hat!" Sorting Hat grunted and woke up.

"Dobby? You shouldn't be here!" He sounded frantic, but Dobby couldn't clearly judge his facial expressions, because he was a hat.

"I need you right now, Sorting Hat! I have something big I need to tell you!"

"But-" Dobby cut him off with a kiss. It was just like he had imagined it. Fireworks exploded in his brain. Sorting Hat pulled away first.

"What was that for?" He asked, breathless.

The memory of the conversation in the kitchen brought tears to Dobby's eyes. "Sorting Hat, I have a deadly disease."

Dobby watched as what he thought were his eyes go wide. "No," he whispered, not processing what Dobby said.

"In three years, I am going to die. We don't have that much time! Oh, Sorting Hat, I love you."

"I'm sorry, Dobby. I was rude and my behavior was uncalled for. Will you forgive me?"

"Of course," Dobby said. "I want to spend all the time I have with you." Dobby guiltily thought of Harry Potter. Dobby would have to deal with him later. Right now, he wanted to be with Sorting Hat.

The door opened, starting the lovebirds. A shrill voice called, "What is a house elf doing in my office?" Dobby knew why the room was decorated in pink. It was Umbridge's office now.
