"It's coming" the captain shouted, "hurry up boy on the deck before your too late" I did as I was told.

oblivious to what was happening I ran to the deck leaving behind soot my little black bear father had got me before he left for war. I finally got there to see the ship had been abandoned. there was nothing but the dust from the old wooden floor boards. "Mother" I screeched it was no use they had already gone. But where, she always said she wanted to leave me, that I was no good, a waste of space almost. well I'll show her. I looked up at the sky it was dark, gloomy, I felt alone. At least I wouldn't get screamed at or punched anymore but mother. I looked off the side of boat and saw it was sinking. the blood pupped around my veins faster and faster. I saw mother she screamed "jump". I knew I had to get soot he was all I had left of father so I ran. down the stairs up the corridors it was almost filled with water. I dived in and rescued soot. I saw a corpse float by I was only 7 but knew the danger I was in. I ran up the stairs soot clinging on to me I sprinted to the edge of the boat and.... they had gone.
