Chapter 1~ Bad Beginnings

VANESSAS POV

All my life I have known pain. Suffering, blood, bruises. Coming home and wondering if he would beat me again. Living in fear. Questioning if I would make it to the next meal. Hoping that I could survive. Cleaning my wounds. Wearing sweaters in the summer to conceal bruises. It was a pathetic excuse for a life.

My mom died when I was young. Two or three, I don't remember much about her. A kind voice, a tender touch. But she was gone all too fast. Ripped out of my life. Ever since she died my dad turned into a monster. He drank away his sorrows. And when that didn't work, he turned to taking his pain out on me. At first it was little things, an occasional slap or shove. The next day he would apologize profusely. But then he came home later and later, drunk as a skunk. He would blame me for everything gone wrong. And then, most nights he would hurt me. He would rip off his belt and also me with it. Burn me with his cigarettes. Punch and hit me till I was purple and red.

Maybe I should have left him. Said I'm done and hightailed it out of there. But I had no friends. No one cared for me. I was a freak. There was no where for me to run. So I stayed and suffered. Maybe it would have been better had I left him. Instead, it got worse. More beatings, more pain, more suffering. Sometimes I would have to miss school to conceal the bruises. It was a crappy life.

Eventually he gambled away all of our money. We were flat out broke. I got a job at Mcdonalds. It stunk. The beating got continually worse and worse. In fact I couldn't take it. I thought it couldn't get worse. But it did.

On a cold January night, when my only resoloution was to stay alive and healthy.................... 5 idiotic boys almost killed me............

muah ha ha well I guess i am evil. just wanted to get people interested. i try to update fast.
