Ever since he was growing up, Iwaizumi had been called special. Although he never felt that way.

A young Iwaizumi scowled as he collected the last of his books, stuffing them in his backpack sluggishly. Purposely slowing down his movements, he hoped to give sign to his parents of his actions. To no avail however, as he heard his irritated mother yell from their kitchen for him to make haste. He huffed, slinging his bag over his shoulder, sneering at his reflection in his mirror before treading down the stairs.

One of the most dreaded days of every child's lives, the first day of school. But for Iwaizumi it wasn't the amount of work he dread; no rather, to him he hated the fact that he needed to be surrounded by groups of screaming children. He frowned as he sat at the kitchen table. Not only that, but he knew if any of the kids heard about his "specialness" there would for sure be trouble for him. This fact frustrated him to no end.

"Please wipe that frown off your face, it's only your first day." He heard his mother scold him, a flash appeared in his eyes. Seeing a wave of a yellow color, the hue a bit of a dark shade. He grumbled facing his mother with an even deeper frown. As she peered at his expression she sighed, a rather heavy one. "Honey, why are afraid to go to school?" She asked. She knew her child had been troubled from his expression. Only further did she assume why the longer she thought. Iwaizumi could only turn his head to the side.

"I don't want to meet the other kids." He said in a gruff tone. His mother could only let out another sigh. He expected this kind of reaction, after all no one understood how he really felt.
"Please, just try honey. You never know, things might go your way." His mother bargained with him, placing breakfast on the table, an almost tired tone trailed off from her.
He watched the wave of dark yellow quickly disperse, and he let loose another scowl. Playing with his breakfast absentmindedly he let his thoughts run aimlessly in his mind. Hoping to distract him from the horrible day he had been anticipating. He knew even if he tried, his mother would just force him to school anyway. So he just had to put up with it, plus the way the dark yellow hue somehow exploded from her voice when she yelled made him feel worse.

Afterwards, the time ticked by quickly, to his dismay, and he stood with his mother at the front of the elementary school. Just as he thought, colors left and right invaded his vision. All strangely having a darkish hue to them, despite the high pitched voices of the students. Iwaizumi could already feel a headache growing, rare for a child, as he rubbed his eyes roughly when more waves came in. He squeezed his mother's hand, uncomfortable with the stimuli surrounding him. Only to be ignored as she let go, kneeling in front of him with a hopeful glance.

"Please be good, and try to get used to the new environment. I know you can do it." She said, the dark yellow hue turning soft along with her tone. His expression softened as well, and he nodded bringing forth a determined gaze for her as he tried to ignore the annoying environment. She left leaving a soft kiss on his forehead, and he was left to face his school day alone.

He couldn't have been more embittered despite his best efforts. The classroom had been riddled with so much screeching children. He had to hold it in himself not to scream at them to be quiet at least once. He noticed how a good number of the kids had avoided him because of the scary glare he had held before class started. He couldn't care less, however, as he tried to subtly block out the sounds without trying to drag attention to himself. The most saddening thing to him were the colors, dozens of them surrounding and yet, they all seemed dull. A lackluster sense brought to him that he couldn't help but get that feeling of boredom, and loneliness. Even the teacher, when the lesson had begun, might as well have had no color at all because of their monotone voice. Iwaizumi felt a sour taste in his mouth, for the fact that he had to go through this an entire year. An entire day felt like torture for him, and it only seemed slower.

That was until Lunch came around. The loud squeaking of chairs and the chatter of the students filled the room again. Iwaizumi flinched at all the colors that suddenly reappeared like a tidal wave. Having enough, he took his lunch and fled the room without even sparing a glance at the other children. However, a curious glance stared at his direction without him noticing.

Outside, Iwaizumi finally found a nice, quiet spot to himself where he could finally be alone with his thoughts. Silence never felt so good. He ate his lunch rather quickly, so he could have more time to reflect on himself a bit; for having that proved to be quite rare for him. Leaning back on the grass, he had free himself from the scene. How could colors be so dismal? Even with new faces and different tones of voices they all lacked something. Sometimes he wished he could escape the requirement of an education, and just play volleyball.

The young boy had grown to liking the sport just a couple age prior. He found excitement in just running, feeling his heart pumping and muscles moving without having to focus on the voices surrounding him.

"Um, excuse me!"

Iwaizumi's eyes snapped open, and he turned towards the source of the sound. Another young boy his age, a tuff of wild brown hair blowing in the wind, as well as big eyes staring at him inquisitively. Iwaizumi became startled not only by the sound new voice...

"I saw you running away from the classroom all upset. Are you ok?" The boy asked, a wave of a bright blue-green hue adorned his high pitched voice.

Iwaizumi became aware of the new color, his whole mind just shocked. He froze just staring at the other boy, while said boy only grinned widely.

"You're staring at me. That's kind of weird." The boy remarked. While Iwaizumi would retort at the comment, he felt off put as the bright hue just kept coming. He didn't imagine it, the illuminating hue.

"Ok now it's getting creepy." The boy murmured, his grin forming into a frown. He hummed, then got closer walking up to the stunned boy and then kneeling.

"You know it's impolite to stare." The boy said tilting his head as he gazed at Iwaizumi. His brow furrowed creating a crease in his forehead, and his shining eyes locked together with Iwaizumi. Iwaizumi laid mesmerized at the sight.

"What's your name?" He then asked.

All signs of hesitance gone Iwaizumi answered like he had been hypnotized.
"Iwaizumi Hajime."

"Iwaizumi Hajime." The boy tested the name on his tongue. The bright blue-green hue followed, and strangely Iwaizumi could feel a light feeling in his chest. From the sight of the color decorating the boy's voice as he said his name. Giving an affirmed nod, the boy's grinned returned, "I'll call you Iwa-chan if that's ok with you. Nice to meet you.."

The wave seemed to burn brighter as Iwaizumi could feel himself immersed in a sea of blue-green.

"I'm Oikawa Tooru."
