The End of the Marauders

I was the last. The Last of the Marauder's, the last of my friends. I was going to die, right now. But I was okay with that. Before James and Sirius figured out I was a werewolf, I thought they would desert me when they found out. I thought I was going to be unloved for the rest of my life, and that kind of thinking kills a person's spirit after awhile. But then the guys figured it out (well, Wormtail didn't, but he was never that bright) and they continued to be my friend. In fact, they became illegal animagi for me. Those years were the best years of my life, because my mind became less wolfish while I was with them, and I don't think anyone ever figured out more about the grounds and Hogsmead than we did.

I also have Tonks. She is so beautiful, and even though she knows what I am, she doesn't care. She still loves me. I am still amazed that she's mine. That's another reason I'm okay with dying. She'l be here with me, because God knows she won't let me go through this alone. I'll be with Sirius and James and her when I die. And Lily, and Dumbledore, and the Longbottom's, and the Potter's, and Mad-Eye, and Dobby. Too many people have died in this war. But I have faith in Harry. He's too stubborn for his own good, he won't rest until Voldemort is dead, for good this time.

I looked around me. I saw five Death Eater's converge on me and Tonks. We may be good, but not that good. We tried, none-the-less, sending stunning spells towards the Death Eater's one after the other, and managed to knock out three of the five. So we did what any good witches and wizards do; we dueled. And we dueled for out lives.

And suddenly, I saw, out of the corner of my eye, the Death Eater Tonks was dueling swipe his wand at her, and green sparks flew out of it, at the exact moment my Death Eater's wand did. We had no chance. So I grabbed Tonks' hand, and pulled her close to me as the wands flashed green.

"I love you," I whispered in her ear, and I pulled her closer, anticipating what was to come.

"I love you, too," She replied as I kissed her forehead.

And then the sparks hit us. It was sudden, but at the same time, time seemed to slow.

    I had died.
