Two lines. Two pink lines was all it took for the flood gates to open. Reba sat down on the toilet seat and cried into her hands; these weren't sad tears, but ones of excitement and joy! She was having a baby!
She and her husband have been trying for a baby for a while. Ever since their son was born, they couldn't wait to have another one. But having a 5 year old and a crazy world schedule. It was harder then they expected
She had decided not to tell Narvel, already planning a special dinner in her head to break the news. Reba knew that he would be ecstatic
She heard her husband and son return home and she scrambled to clean her self and the bathroom up
"Mommy!" Shelby called through the house, ready for his afternoon snack. The boy had an appetite to match his father's!
"I'll be down in a second bud!" She called
She was met at the bottom of the stairs by Narvel, greeting her with a kiss, "Have you been crying?"
"No, why?" She asked
"It looks like it," he took her face into his hands.
"I stubbed my toe on the bathtub and it really hurt." She said
"Want me to kiss it?" He joked
She giggled and returned the kiss he gave her
"Mommy!" Shelby interrupted them from the kitchen
"I'm coming little man." She said and walked into the kitchen
"Ice cream?" He asked innocently
"You know the rule sweetie." She said
"Make an exception, Mommy," Narvel said as he wrapped his arms around her
"Maybe because it's Friday..." Reba smiled
"Yay!" Both of her boys cheered
She smiled and got the ice cream out
"I'll get the bowls," Narvel said, "I'll get the spoons," Shelby and over to the silverware drawer
"What flavor do you guys want?" She asks
"Chocolate!"
"Okay." Reba smiled and got the ice cream out
"Thank you," Narvel kissed her cheek
"Mama wants a real one." She fake pouted
"I haven't gotten my ice cream yet," he smiled
"That's not my fault." She said
"And why not?" He smirked
"Because you haven't given me a real kiss yet." She smirked
Narvel pulled her against him and planted a deep kiss on her lips
She smiled big and kissed him deeply in return
"Good enough?" Narvel smiled
"The best." Reba smiled
"Ewww!" Shelby grimaced, watching his parents together
"What bub?" She asked him
"Gross," he replied
"It's not gross." She said
"We'll show you gross!" Narvel grabbed Shelby and attacked him with tickles and kisses.
Shelby started laughing and giggled. He squirmed around and smiled big
"The ice cream is melting, Daddy!"
"I love you buddy." He smiled big
"I love you too!" Shelby smiled
Narvel smiled and let him go
They all sat around the table enjoying their ice cream, Shelby, of course, asking for seconds.
"Do you want more now or wait to have more after dinner?" She asked
"Now!" Shelby demanded
"Okay but none after dinner." She said
"Come one, Mama," he pouted. "Yea, come on, Mama," Narvel joined in.
"No Boys." Reba said
"She'll give in eventually," Narvel whispered to Shelby
"No way." Reba said
"Yes you will," Narvel nudged her playfully
"Nope." She nudged
They both looked over at Shelby who was giving her the stink eye. "Close bud." She said.
"How about that chocolate pie that's in the fridge?" Narvel winked
"No." She shook her head
"Nothing for dessert?" Narvel gasped
"Not if you have more ice cream." She said
"Fine, we'll wait," Shelby huffed
"Thank you baby." She smiled
"I'll help you start on dinner," Narvel offered
"What do you guys want?" She asked them
"Whatever you feel like cooking," Narvel shrugged, Shelby agreeing
"How about chicken, Mac n cheese and salad?" Reba suggested
"That sounds wonderful!" He kissed her cheek
"What do you think Shelby?" She smiled
"Yes!"
Reba smiled big!
"I have a surprise for you later," Narvel whispered in her ear. Little did he know that she had an even bigger one...
